Tooting Islamic Centre

Based in the old Mayfair Cinema building, the Tooting Islamic Centre was established in 1997 and developed from the nearby Balham Mosque (itself founded in 1978). The Centre now operates on a larger scale that the Balham Mosque and attracts worshippers from Croydon, Wallington and Mitcham as well as Balham and Tooting. Around 450 children attend the Centre's full-time Islamic primary and secondary school (Al-Risaala School), which is attached to the Centre. Up to 1,000 attend Friday prayers here.
