Cups of Pasta in Astoria is such a cute, quick, and satisfying spot. It shares a space with Elio’s Ice Cream, which makes the setup even more fun. You order from kiosk tablets, and the service was fast and easy. Thomas helped me during my visit, and he was incredibly kind and generous, even offering ice cream samples while I waited for my pasta. I ordered the fusilli with bolognese, and it was excellent. The portion was perfect, very filling without being overwhelming, and the sauce was delicious, cheesy, meaty, and full of flavor. I especially loved the whole roasted garlic cloves mixed in. The cup was $15, which is still a decent deal, although I do wish they could have kept their original $10 pricing model. I understand food costs and inflation have made that harder for small businesses, but that original price point was definitely part of the appeal. My only suggestion would be to include a piece of buttered Texas toast or garlic bread with each cup. With those roasted garlic cloves in the pasta, having bread to spread them on would have taken the meal to the next level. Overall, the food was delicious, the space was clean, the service was great, and I highly recommend the fusilli with bolognese.
