Okuno Niwa is a hideaway-like restaurant where you can forget the hustle and bustle of Arashiyama. In the middle of walking around Arashiyama, you can enjoy everything from authentic Japanese cuisine to udon noodles with our specialty soup stock without a reservation.
The menus clearly state that halal food is served. From the management: 'Halal cuisine is prepared in accordance with Islamic law. We are certified Halal Friendly by the Kyoto Halal Council and prepare our food according to islamic teachings. All of the ingredients used in our dishes have been verified by the Halal Council.'
Score reflects a halal certificate on file.
Our tour leader recommend this halal food resto during our visit to Arashimaya. The food is good, we ordered Chicken Curry, Udon Tempura and Chicken Karage. The curry is light but you still can taste the spice, really like the menu. Chicken Karage is also good, crispy om the outside and juicy in the inside. You can taste a hint of ginger on the chicken. They also provide prayer room, which is very convenience for those who need to perform pray for Moslem people. Though it's quite small as it can only accommodate 3 people, but it's sufficient as we can take turns. Like the atmosphere of the resto.
