Fred DeLuca founded the Subway chain in Connecticut, USA, in 1965. The company has since grown into a multi-billion pound business, with more than 25,000 outlets in over 80 countries. The Subway chain aims to increase the number of outlets it has in the UK and Ireland to over 2,010 stores by 2010. The first halal Subway store was opened in July 2007 in Walthamstow.
Authorized halal by an Islamic organization. The Islamic Foundation of Ireland has been involved since 1980 as the certifying authority for Halal meat exported from Ireland to Muslim countries. In 1985 a separate department within the Foundation, the Halal Meat Section, was set up to oversee the supervision and certification of Halal meat. They are fully certified with clear signs in the restaurant explaining the terminology e.g. "ham" is actually "turkey" etc.
Score reflects a halal certificate on file.
Clean, great food as with all Subway brances. All food is labelled Halal. There is a certificate near the till denoting the menu options and what they mean because they still use the word 'ham' for example but it's actually turkey. Masjid is a 2 minute walk down the road.
I’ve been going here for years and the staff are so nice. Anyone saying otherwise is most likely the one being obnoxious (I’ve witnessed plenty of people be rude to staff in there for no reason)
