About Seylou Bakery

This is a DC gem, a hip spot in the blooming part of DC's Shaw. A Bakery & Mill, a whole grain bakery, Muslim owned, great spot for baked goods and caffeine. They also have pizza, but only on Friday nights. Friday nights are pizza nights and an amazing halal lamb pizza is among the offerings. There is no alcohol served here. It's a chic space, but typical of urban spots not a large seating area. Seylou offers a unique experience, starting with the farmers and leading to the seeds, which are milled on-site and baked into 100% whole grain breads in a wood-fired oven. Eclectic and nutritious specialty items, pastries, coffees and teas are also available.

So happy to have learned that this beautiful bakery/coffeehouse in a fun part of the city happens to be Muslim owned, and that on Fridays nights (only) they serve pizza including an incredible halal lamb pizza that was the best we\'ve ever had. All other times there are plenty of vegetarian offerings, baked goods, pastries, breads, etc. No alcohol and several choices to get your coffee/tea fix. Check out their website that has lots of photos and more info. about how they mill and bake everything on site, as well as what inspired their business (www.seylou.com). The owners are wonderful people and we\'ll be regulars here!
