Hidden gem in New West ❤️ After a relaxing afternoon at Art of Sauna, my friend recommended Cayenne Bistro & Grill, an East African & Indian fusion spot just a short walk away. It ended up being the perfect way to end our day. From the moment we walked in, the owner made us feel so welcome. He patiently walked us through the menu, explained the specials, answered all our questions, and shared the story behind the restaurant. It’s a family-run mom & pop shop, with his wife making the dishes, and she even came out to say hi to us, which made the whole experience feel really personal and heartfelt. I was about to play it safe with regular butter chicken, but the owner recommended the Mango Butter Chicken and I’m so glad I trusted him. It was rich, comforting, flavourful, and delicious. I also ordered garlic naan and chai, both excellent! My friend ordered a vegetarian dish and another chicken dish, and everything on the table was so good. I mentioned I was craving a bit more spice, and the owner came back with a small side of spicy green chilies/sauce and warned me to pace myself 😂. It was AMAZING and exactly the extra kick I wanted. Portions were generous, the 3 of us left full, happy, and with leftovers to take home. (I was way too hungry to remember proper food photos before digging in 😅.) Great food, genuinely kind service, cozy atmosphere, and a place that clearly puts heart into what they do. Highly recommend this restaurant, I’ll definitely be back to explore more of the menu.
