Nice and neat place. Very sweet people working there. Food was great and was really fresh. Definitely going again very soon.
I recently visited Shawarma Palace – Newton location, and unfortunately my experience didn’t live up to expectations. I ordered the chicken platter, and the first thing I noticed was that the chicken being served on top was already pre-cut and sitting in a tray, then reheated before being added to my plate. Because of that, the chicken didn’t taste fresh off the grill and lacked that juicy, just-carved flavor you expect from good shawarma. It felt more like it had been sitting for a while rather than freshly sliced to order. The platter overall was decent in portion size, but some of the sides were disappointing. The potatoes weren’t crispy at all — they were soft and didn’t have that fresh, golden crunch that really makes the platter stand out. It just didn’t hit the mark. If it were up to me, I’d honestly drive all the way to the Richmond location instead, where the chicken is cut straight off the grill as you order. You can really taste the difference when it’s freshly sliced — it’s more flavorful, tender, and overall a much better experience. I hope the Newton location can improve on freshness and food preparation because the brand has a lot of potential. Right now, though, it didn’t meet the standard I was expecting.
