I notice the 5 stars from other reviews but I came here during Songkran festival and others did not. The hotel was locked and no staff anywhere. I went searching around back with no luck. Luckily another guest arrived on scooter and he phoned hotel owner Noy who came after 20 minutes. Noy had no idea I was coming that day even though i had booked 3 nights through Agoda 4 days ago. Noy said staff and wife gone as Songkran and he was left alone. The room 2C was the darkest room I have ever stayed in due to dark blue walls, his paintings which did nothing for me and recessed lights. The view through window was corrugated metal sheets. I asked for vegetarian breakfast , he said he would get broccoli, mushrooms, tomatoes etc as Mae Sai market 2 minutes walk, and next day I got what he called salad - lettuce, sweetcorn , 2 cold boiled eggs and little rice. Again I asked for vegetables and next morning got some vegetables in breakfast, no eggs. So for 2 days there were no staff, he ran around in the restaurant and kitchen, he said they will come tomorrow. On third day one lady made the breakfast, however with sausages and bacon, so there were communication problems between Noy and her, even though he was in the restaurant, and she made again. The same lady made the room. I only saw 1 staff. His wife just chatted with guests. The bed had threadbare sheets see photos. I’m not a fan of concrete slab desk with dangerous corner, bathroom pedestal or the bare concrete floor. All to save money on cost of table, flooring, lighting, essential bedding. My knee got bruised on underside of this unfinished table due to the rough concrete. Old kettle does not give boiling water. Chair not good. Freezer already had mouldy meat. This is Thai version of Fawlty Towers with Basil, Sybil and lady doubled as Manuel/Polly. Basil is thrifty and interested in opening in a coffee shop, not dealing with present problems. He prides in his 70,000b coffee grinder. Location is good for visa run.
