As a young bright chef and business man, Sam Osmow took over Polar Submarine as his own business. Sam experimented with his own recipes and came up with truly delicious meals. He soon felt the need to work on changing the whole concept of the restaurant - making it a business he can easily relate to. He reopened up as Osmow's, a truly Mediterranean restaurant at 251 Queen Street South, Unit 1, Mississauga, thereby presenting his new healthy and mouth watering meal selections. Due to the excellent success in quality and services, Sam has opened several Osmow's locations.
Staff has given verbal assurance of halal status. The owner of Osmow's and the employees say the food is Halal, but they have not taken the initiative to put it on the board outside, or on the menu, nor do they have a Halal certificate.
Score reflects a halal certificate on file, with an active issue report under review.
The chicken is fresh and service is amazing. I consider myself a MiddleEastern food taster, and this is not an authentic Shawarma taste. It's not marinated the way we taste it in Lebanon, Turkey, Syria or Egypt. Places like Shawarma Max @ 4969 Yonge St, or Shawarma Empire
Staff verbally confirms that the chicken is halal and offers to show the halal certificate, but does not keep the certificate posted or on display.
I tried the Oz Box from Osmow’s and overall it was a solid, filling meal — though it definitely adds up price-wise. The Oz Box lets you choose between rice, fries, or salad as your base. I went with rice topped with chicken, and paired it with a Greek salad, which is an upgrade from their standard salad and costs extra. On top of that, I added an additional 5 oz of chicken, which is another charge. Everything came finished with their signature garlic sauce, tahini, and hot sauce — spice level is customizable, which is always a plus. The flavors were exactly what you’d expect from Osmow’s: bold, garlicky, and satisfying. The chicken was well-seasoned and paired nicely with the rice, and the Greek salad was fresh and a nice contrast to the heavier components. Service was quick and efficient, especially considering I came in on a Friday night about an hour before closing. No complaints there. The location itself is your standard Osmow’s franchise — nothing fancy, but clean and straightforward. All in, my total came to $26.53, which feels a bit steep for fast-casual shawarma, especially once you start adding upgrades. Still, the portions were generous and the food hit the spot. If you’re hungry and don’t mind paying extra for add-ons, the Oz Box delivers what you expect from Osmow’s.
