3 Freshwater Place, Southbank, Victoria
With a name like "Meat & Wine Company", Muslims may feel the need to stay away from this place, but you do so at your own peril. This is part of an international group of steakhouse restaurants and has worked closely with partners in the Middle East to develop a Halal menu of dishes, expertly prepared with a range of meat products basted in their unique trade secret basting, and cooking until consistently tender, juicy and full of flavour every time. They do not use alcohol in any of their sauces or prepared dishes, and all Halal products are cooked separately from non-Halal products. They have even created a non-alcoholic basting sauce which is made and flown in from South Africa especially for Halal guests.
The menus clearly state that halal food is served. Meat source for specific menu items is halal, however end product is not halal certified, as stated in their menu.
Score reflects a halal certificate on file, with an active issue report under review.
best steak i have ever had. their new yorker and ribeye are excellent. would highly recommend.
Celebrated Mother’s Day, 2026 at Southbank - second visit in 12 months. Ordered garlic bread & pork belly for entree, then steak, chicken breast and beef burger for mains, followed by crème brûlée for dessert. Cannot fault a single thing. Our wait staff were incredible!! So accommodating and friendly, remaining professional at all times. The atmosphere is dark and moody - it’s great! Situated facing the river, this restaurant is a must for foodies!! See you next time 😀 Do yourself a favour and park at Wilson’s Riverside Quay - $20 (pre-book) and super close to the restaurant!!
