About Stop & Shop
Our story starts in 1914 when the Rabinowitz family opened a corner grocery store in Somerville, MA. Four years later, they introduced the modern self-service supermarket, and by 1947, our company had grown into a flourishing chain of 86 supermarkets. Since then, we've continued to grow and innovate, pioneering the superstore concept and opening over 375 stores throughout New England, New York and New Jersey.

Accidentally placed my first review on the wrong Stop and Shop location (Holyoke). That was an error. This particular location is where I have shopped, and when I had shopped there they had kosher meats and dairy that fell under halal ruling.
