786 Degrees

I know of three truly excellent halal pizza places in Southern California, and all of them are in LA County: (1) Mega Pizza Grille, in Culver City; (2) Big Al's Pizzeria, in Maywood; and (3) this place, 786 Degrees, in Sun Valley. All of them are at least an hour away from me in South Orange County, and all of them are worth the drive. Each offers something unique. Mega Pizza Grille offers mouth-wateringly good halal Scandinavian pizzas; Big Al's has an assortment of breathtakingly beautiful pizzas; and 786 Degrees is the only place that offers its eclectic mix of halal Naples-certified pizza from a wood-fired oven. I really like 786 Degrees for a few reasons. First, the owner, Ali Haider, is basically living my dream life. He clearly has so much passion for pizza, and that passion is evident the second you walk through the door. The place just has tons of personality. It's not a fancy sit down or anything--to the contrary, it's super casual. But I think it's a fun environment, and I was excited to be there. Second, the pizzas are unique creations--they're super thin, and each slice has an airy quality to it. My friend and I got three pizzas, and that was the perfect amount for two, hungry people. We got the El Chapo pizza (featuring beef Mexican chorizo, and hilariously named such because the flavor is hard to capture), the El Fungi Lama pizza (a vegetarian mushroom pizza that may have been my favorite), and the Bombay Tikka Masala (featuring tikka masala sauce and chicken tikka). Finally, the prices are really fair. We got three pizzas for just about $40. Obviously, pizza from a huge chain is much more affordable. But for the quality of our food, I thought $20 a person was perfect value for what we had. I had never heard of Sun Valley (where this restaurant is located), but for those wondering, it's about 15 minutes north of Griffith Park. So, if you're not generally in the area but want to hike near the Hollywood sign, or see the Griffith Observatory, or even if you have no reason to be in area but just generally love trying new halal spots, I highly recommend this place.

Such amazing, gourmet pizza! Been here many times and it's consistently delicious, the staff is always incredibly friendly, and we always leave stuffed. My favorite is the Habibi. My only wish is that it were a bigger location and/or with better seating options.

Excellent pizza in authentic Neapolitan style. Tried 4 different pizzas and all were excellent. Small seating area. Staff is friendly. Highly recommend.

We had the el cheapo and the Bombay tikka masala. Both were just amaaaazing. Very fast service and extremely welcoming.

Excellent pizza. Very friendly and knowledgeable owner. Think \"800 Degrees\" without the long line and with all halal toppings. The location is humble, but the pizza is really incredible. We tried the pepperoni pizza, the chicken curry pizza, and the doner kabab pizza. Each one was totally unique and thoroughly delicious.

The pizzas are amazing! We ordered several to try thinking we will take some home, but ended up eating them all! Unique choices like tikka chicken pizza, chorizo pizza, turkish doner kabab pizza etc. It is very gourmet style, not just a random pizza place. They have won many awards for their pizza and are certified from Naples. The owners are super friendly and its obvious that pizza is their passion. The restaurant is very small, but very clean and trendy/ new from the inside with a beautiful wood oven. May Allah put baraka in their business. I really enjoyed my meal, we'll be back inshallah.
