Influenced by his mothers cooking, Faraz started Tandoor Char House. His parents, father from India and mother from Pakistan, were famed amongst their friends in Pakistan for their generous dinners and welcoming home. Since emigrating to the United States, Faraz's family has acquired 25 years of experience catering out of their family's kitchen.
The owners are Muslim and have confirmed its halal status. From the website: 'We serve 100% Zabiha Halal Meat, Fresh Guaranteed'
Score reflects a halal certificate on file.
Beef boti tandoori, and chicken leg & thigh tandoori were very good. I\'d come back for those. The chicken tikka masala was too bland for my taste.
Been here couple of times, i think their steaks are over rated, don\'t get me wrong place is nice etc..but i guess it all boils down to the benchmark. Been here a couple of times... had their version of butter chicken and boneless tandoori lamb curry i believe + the chat fries, everything was good, I could tell they did the chicken in the tandoor, had a nice distinct tandoori flavor. Overall the food is good, the place a bit hard to get to, owners are nice friendly people and their signature chutneys made inhouse as well are good also. Only drawn back its a bit pricey !
Nice atmosphere. Excellent food. Try lamb boti
Visiting the area on business from the DC area. This is the Best in Indian/Pakistani food, bar none. Service is excellent and very up to date. They serve a full Halal menu for those concerned. Portions are generous. Small twists to traditional dishes make this restaurant stand out. The Indian/Pakistani community has been long overdue for this upgrade. Now there is an alternative to Devon St. We lucked out and met the owner who is very personable and accommodating. Looking forward to going back. Since I gave it a glowing review I want to add I am not related to these folks, this is a real review.
Phenomenal. This place has it all: delicious food, great atmosphere, knowledgeable and courteous waiters, and large portions. I strongly recommend the tandoori lamb boti kebab, which was scrumptious and as fresh off the grill as it could be. Our waiter (Ryan) was an awesome, passionate guy and had no problem dishing out great recommendations.
Before I went to restaurant, visited their website which says no alcohol but BYOB and 100% zabiha halal. It was packed and seated in about 15 mnts. It tooks more than one hour to get my meal after finishing up my appetizer. 99% of customer having beer/alcoholic drink on their table and owner was serving alcohol by himself . Even though I orderd meat but left without eating because I don"t want to trust on him.
The best Indian Restaurant ever. Masha'allah tabark Allah. You should eat at this restaurant it worth what you going spend.
From out of town and went here with my cousin and family. He called ahead and made reservation and confirmed that they serve halal zabihah meat. This place was great. Nice atmosphere. Food was amazing. This is the place for steaks. The Indian food was also really good...but make sure you try the steaks! Owner came by to talk to us too which was nice. Will come back to this place next time I'm in the area
I went there specifically for trying their steaks and had a very pleasant experience. The ambiance is great, décor very contemporary and cool selection of music. They serve complimentary salad and raita before the meal which is a very welcome gesture on part of a zabihah establishment. I had their T-bone steak which was served with tikka masala sauce, mixed veggies and mashed potato. The steak was very well done and i thoroughly enjoyed it. The sides had a true desi flavor especially the mashed potatoes which were mixed with peas and too good. Everything from ambiance, presentation, and food quality was top notch. Would love to come back!
This was my first Restaurant Week experience, and Tandoor absolutely set the bar high. From the moment we walked in, the ambiance and staff were incredibly welcoming. The food portions were huge—we happily took plenty home! One of the highlights was the chef coming out personally to serve us and share the origins of his family recipes. It truly felt like eating at a friend’s house, but with an upscale touch. The Dubai chocolate cake and falooda were insanely rich and indulgent—such a perfect way to end the meal. You can really feel the care and pride behind everything they do here. I highly recommend this family-owned restaurant and will definitely be back. Thank you for such a memorable experience!
