Extremely worst service I am writing review while waiting on a table where they have squeezed 2 other small groups. I am informed that their main cook is out in Japan so while cat is away the mice will play. Make sure if the wait time is 30 mins than means its hr 1-1/2. Hope they understand how to run an efficient restaurant.

Very good and only Japanese halal restaurant in Houston.

So I was told about this place by a friend of mine and I decided to give it a try. The place has a nice and clean setting. However, the things that I didn\'t like was the portion of the food..it is very small so if you are a person with a huge appetite do not go here. In addition if you don\'t have big pockets (money) this place is not good for you either. They are very expensive. With the same amount of money I could have fed 20 people in another restaurant. This was worth trying once but not going again.

Went to the restaurant today. Was told hibachi and teriyaki steak is not halal. So I got rib-eye instead. Taste good!

I cant for the life of me figure out why it's halal but apparently it is. We had the kobe steak, ribeye, teryaki chicken and some sushi. The food was good without being extraordinary. The price is comparable to other steak houses in Houston but doesn't offer an equal quality product. Its a fun experience and a rare option for halal steak, but lets be honest, if it weren't for the halal aspect, no one would go.

Great place to have dinner. Open late until 11.00 pm on Sat.

It's a great place for a special occasion. Food is quite pricey. But the ambiance is great but the food quality was so-so. The staff seemed tired.

If you're going for a food show, it's fine but if you want good solid food then this is not the place to go.

We visited the place on first day of Eid. The portion size was small compared to our normal desi dishes. The place is clean but pretty pricy. The staff is very nice and food is good. Must try their Hibachi Steak.

This is our go to restaurant when we have guests and they always love it! food and atmosphere is excellent. Dinner is a little pricey but lunch isn't so bad. Kids enjoy noodles. Their steak and fried rice is sooo yummy.

Good food and good experience. Chefs use a bit of humor during food prep. which makes the difference.

In my opinion, the best Halal restaurant in Houston! The food is absolutely spectacular. Our family has made this a regular spot, and we will go back many more times iA.

Alhamdolillah for a place that serves halal steaks! My son makes great steaks at home....but you still want to go and try something different at times...and we found our place! The ambience is great, the chefs are entertaining, all in all a great experience...we have been there twice already in 3 weeks!

Updated 3/15/2012: I was told by someone who recently went here that they use white wine to light up the onion "volcano". Make sure you let the chef know that you don't want alcohol touching our food. Original post December 2008: Went here for dinner. Had the hibachi steak and filet mignon. Food was great, would highly recommend. Person I spoke with confirmed all meat was halal. They started serving halal based on a customer's recommendation. They serve alcohol though.

Excellent place to eat, very high quality of food and friendly service. I am very fond of Japanese food as I worked with a Japanese company for 12 years and I acquired the taste while frequently visiting Japan back in the days. I have been to this restaurant during lunch time only and not for dinner. Price is reasonable for the quality they offer, as authentic as it can get.

The food here is absolutely fantastic, My wife and I ate here to celebrate our 6th Wedding Anniversary. We loved it! I had Filet Mignon steak and she had chicken, The steak was soooo good and soo tender, it melted in my mouth. The rice was the best fried rice my wife or I have EVER had even the veggies were to die for! Plus it is pretty affordable, under $50 for two including soft drinks. Go here you will NOT be disappointed!

Love this place. My husband and I have been here twice. We have tried both the hibachi grill area and the regular dining hall. Both times the food was excellent. Beautiful steaks. I tried the hibachi steak and terriyaki steak, hubby tried the fillet mignon and hibachi steak . We both had the special with soup shrimp and veggies and fried rice. Their onion soup and beef sashimi are delicious. Bit high on the price but since its always the 2 of us dining there it is alright. If you plan to dine with friends or family, you should definitely dine at the hibachi grill.

This place was great. The waiter assured it was halal. food was tasty. everyone in our group enjoyed the meal. Was a little expensive, but was worth it. enviroment was really nice. It was cool to see them cook the food in front of you.

Meat Lovers Rejoice! If your looking for a nice evening out Bonzai Japanese Steakhouse is as close to a sure thing as you can get. Though the sushi is great, you would dishonor your taste buds any missed opportunity to indulge splendors of the Hibachi grill. Part entertainment, part satisfaction Hibachi food done right can stimulate all the senses. The folks here make sure to do just that. Ive gotten to know all the cooks here. Darryl has been my favorite. He is a real people person. However, Eduardo is Mr. Entertainment. Conversation is not his strong suit, but given an eager audience his shows are engaging and exciting. KNOW YOUR MEAT. When you are eating a Hibachi steakhouse you are in control, especially with salmon and steak. Med. Well is a thin line of pink in the middle, and therefore very haram. Suggest that he cooks it just enough to where there is no pink. What you want is between well and med. well. When ordering salmon tell them to burn it. On a Hibachi grill temperatures are constant so rarely does the salmon cook right all the way through. Having them Burn it guarantees it is fully cooked and gives it a crunchy skin that textures nicely when dipped in the sauces. Do not forget the Hot sauce. My advice check the specials they often have free shrimp or double meal specials and such. Appetizers to try are the shrimp roll appetizer, and the chicken skewers. Stay away from the soups unless you like drinking Plow Yukhni- they just are not for a Pakistani palate. Great establishment. A definite must try!

Fantastic!...the food and service was excellent. The steak is very tender! We're very enjoyable!. The owner(he) is very honest>>he's buddist. The meat absolutely halal meat. They changed about more than a year. Highly recommended!

Food was excellent, service was excellent; I would highly recommend going there. It's a fun place to go with family and such. Must have the filet mignon :)

Just went their last weekend. Food was Delicious. Good thing is, we tried like 6 dishes and everything was great. Nice Steaks, which is very hard to find Halal. Nice Environment.
