Curry Leaf

Gandhi has been in Albany for as long as I can remember. I tried it a few years ago and was very disappointed, but after seeing a sign proclaiming that they were under new management, as well as saying that they serve halal food, I decided to give it another try. The waiter was very cordial and confirmed that everything on the menu is halal. I ordered a bowl of mulligatawny soup and chicken tikka masala (although most of the other Indian restaurants in the area have halal meat, for some reason their chicken tikka masala never is halal, so when I found out Gandhi's was I jumped on it). The chicken was good, and I was given a generous portion, but it was a bit too sweet and not spicy enough; I'm sure you can request that it be made spicier. The soup, however, was amazing; Masha'Allah, it was hot, fresh, and bursting with flavor. The restaurant was almost full when I went there, which is a good sign. My only complaint was that service was quite slow, but it was busy and there were only two waiters. Although Curry House is still my favorite halal Desi restaurant in town, Gandhi definitely did not disappoint.
