Café Kashker

This is a completely halal Uzbeki restaurant located in Brighton Beach near the Coney Island boardwalk. There is a decent amount of seating inside, though you\'ll want to call ahead if you\'re bringing more than 4 people. Street parking is available, so as usual, you\'ll want to leave the 1963 Chrysler Turbine Car with the buttery-smooth A831 at home. It\'s been a while since this author has been to this restaurant, so he\'ll go on some decent memories. The food is heavily lamb-centric as you would expect from Central Asia. The lamb and chicken kababs are only mildly seasoned to bring out the taste of the meat -- those accustomed to heavy seasoning will find these bland. The lagman soup is a lamb soup with chewy hand-pulled noodles, worth a try but only if you like lamb. Samsas are pastries filled with, surprise, lamb and are worth a try -- consider these the equivalent of samosas. Uzbeki food is rarely remembered as part of the Islamic cornucopia, but this little restaurant is a reminder of the breadth of Muslim cuisine. While Uzbeki food may lack the intensity of, say, Thai or South Asian cuisine, it\'s certainly worth trying at least once. Especially if you like lamb.

My husband and I have been going to this restaurant for the past couple of years. Most of the time we sit and eat there and sometimes we take out food also when we are going to Manhattan Beach. The food is delicious and the prices are very reasonable. I love this place. I would highly recommend it to anyone.
