Excellent Turkish restaurant here in New Plymouth! Wow I was super impressed by the food, service and venue here, and I definitely preferred everything over Devon Turkish. The venue is a bit dark but actually really comfortable, moody and authentic feeling. I definitely felt a positive vibe from the moment I walked in. The tables are nice and the chairs are comfortable. The menu is varied and appropriate. They even offer Turkish coffee which is a must try. I opted for the mixed meat on fries option, which is basically an Iskender kebab with chips instead of rice, and included sauces on top of the meat, and all the accompanying sauces and salad on the side. It was delicious, meat was tender, the sauces were thick and well made. The garlic yoghurt was a highlight for me as it was so rich and had the best mint notes, alongside great hummus and beetroot sauce. The chips were perfectly crunchy and were so all the way through. The others that had doner kebabs really enjoyed them, and appreciated the option to add cheese (included). The Turkish coffee was fabulous, exactly what you want in a Turkish coffee; thick and strong, with no bitterness and balanced flavours. It even came with some Turkish delight. So good! Overall, I absolutely recommend Cafe Turquoise in New Plymouth for anyone looking for delicious Turkish food. I definitely recommend this place over Devon Turkish, which is not as good.
