This market/restaurant is now called Mecca market nontheless the food there was mediocre at best. My wife and I ordered the chicken shawarma since they didn\'t really have much else at the time. When we bit into it it was smothered in ketchup... really?!? Who puts ketchup on their shawarma? The restaurant was not not clean as well. We did buy some items on the market side. Dates and something else. The dates were awesome though very sweet and moist.

Went there for the buffet, not so great, the meat wasn't cleaned before being cooked probably, and I found a few hairs in it. was quite pricey as well.

This place has really gone downhill and is no longer a good spot for the Muslim community. The staff has completely forgotten how to treat customers. The butchers were beyond rude—not just to me but to others waiting in line—and the young black dude at the register wasn’t any better. They’ve raised meat prices twice in the last six months, going from $5.99 to $6.49, and now $6.99. When I asked about the increase, the cashier (black dude) sarcastically told me to come back later when the price “goes low” for me. I didn’t argue because I had my 5-year-old nephew with me, but it was really disrespectful. It feels like the owner is just being greedy, constantly hiking prices. This used to be our go-to place for meat and groceries, but not anymore. A lot of people in the southside Muslim community feel the same way about how poorly this place is run now. If you’re looking for halal meat and want to be treated well, go to Saraga or Al Basha instead. Don’t waste your time or money here.

I love going to Mecca Market. They have fresh halal meat each Wednesday and Saturday. The lamb chops are so good. No matter how I prepare them they melt in my mouth. Grade A good. Produce fresh and not expensive. I cannot say enough. I encourage everyone to check this store out. The people are like family!
