We were born in South Africa, with a blend of Portuguese and British culture along the way. It all started in Mozambique, home of the hot sun, rich soil... and African Bird’s Eye Chillies. Also known as PERi-PERi. Small but mighty, these chillies have been used for centuries in local Mozambiquan cooking. The Portuguese then added a squeeze of lemon and kick of garlic to make the first PERi-PERi sauce. Used on just about anything, they found it was the ultimate baste for flame-grilling spatchcocked chicken. And it wasn’t long before two friends in Johannesburg came to experience the taste of PERi-PERi chicken and Nando’s was born. Fast forward a few years, restaurants and Fino Pittas and today, the Nando’s PERi-PERi you know and love still pays homage to those roots.
Staff has given verbal assurance of halal status. From the management: 'Our halal chicken is authorised by leading Halal Food Authorities. The quality, welfare and health of our chicken is a priority and our UK suppliers follow the strict Red Tractor Farm Assurance Standards. Our halal chickens are pre-stunned to minimise suffering and fear before they're hand-slaughtered. All our halal products are kept separate at our suppliers and in our distribution centres. And our restaurants with halal-friendly options are only allowed to receive chicken from our approved distribution centre. In these restaurants, we only serve chicken that's certified halal. And as we don’t handle any pork ingredients, there’s no chance of cross-contamination'
Score reflects a halal certificate on file.
Nando\'s is a great place to take your family for a nice dinner! Chicken is always done really nicely, and lots of sauce options to choose from. Good seating, clean bathrooms (most of the time). These days I notice that weekends are jam packed with folks. Nothing can be done about that, when you want to take kids. Kids always seem happily fed here too.
Not 100% halal. Doubts.
No clue if he's "addicted to Nandos because it always hits the spot." Alcohol being served is a turn off.
I'm addicted to Nandos because it always hits the spot, something different. This is a newer location in Leicester right next to the shires highcross shopping centre and it's a pretty large location. Only complaint is the alcohol being served, I do hope they stop serving alcohol one day.
This is, genuinely, the most amazing and well refurbished branch of any Nando's I have ever frequented and I have frequented too many to count. It is located in outside of one of the entrances of Leicester High Cross shopping centre. I was amazed by the sheer size of the branch as it feels twice the size of a standard Nando's layout. As soon as I entered, I was greeted and seated by the lovely Ben. He was so friendly and helpful and he had a sense of humour like my own. The branch was quiet, but then again it was 11:00. The sun's rays bounced off the lovely furniture. We ordered a platter for two, Hot 🔥 chicken, peri chips, mashed potatoe, garlic bread and spicy rice. It was ready is no time at all. As the time progressed, more patrons arrived but the noise level was more than acceptable despite numerous toddlers in close proximity. The food was nice and as always the sauces, ranging from lemon & herb to XX hot and everything in between. Personally speaking, I can't get enough of the wild herb sauce, it literally drives me wild with excitement 😜. The toilets were clean and didn't suffer with any bad odours. Alongside Ben, the manager namely Sam and AbdulRahim, I think 🤔, were so lovely and the nice lady with the blonde hair. I will definitely frequent this particular branch again as I loved the layout and very much appreciated the top right section, which has been carefully and thoughtfully designed for autistic people. Well done and I wish you and your amazing branch all the success in the world. We were the couple from Brum and Ben advised that he visits friends in Halesowen. I would a MILLION % recommend this branch to all on planet earth 🌏 and beyond.
