I've been a customer of this Tesco for over a decade, but I visit much less frequent in recent months. The store's staffing levels have decreased significantly, and it's had a noticeable impact on the shopping experience. During my last few visits, I've seen up to 6 empty checkouts with no staff seemingly able to run them, resulting in lengthy queues that have on a couple of occasions taken nearly an hour to navigate. Unfortunately self-checkouts are not an option for me. For some reason inclusivity doesn't seem to count in this respect. All too often I hear people sharing their struggles whilst waiting for an available checkout. Does anyone remember back in the day, seeing TV adverts where Tesco promised to open additional lanes during busy periods? That kind of customer-centric approach is well and truly a thing of the past, just leave little old Dorris waiting there indefinitely with her basket! The good news is, as a result, I've started shopping more on George street. I can get nearly all my fresh stuff from Dean the grocers (top end of George St), Harriets for refillables (much nicer and healthier products), Boots, and Savers for toiletries, Unithai on Church Road for a fantastic selection of Asian food. I really like the friendly staff at this Tesco, but the chaotic checkout experience has become too much to bear - and what's with swapping the shelves around like some sort of social experiment with their creepy camera system?! Basically, If I can buy it from elsewhere now a days, I do!
