Papu's Café

We were in Kansas City for a couple of days and decided to try Papu's. We were not disappointed. It is located inside a gas station and is therefore a small place but the food and service are outstanding. They were out of humus when we arrived and asked for some, but quickly made a fresh batch and served it while we were just half way through our meal, and refused to charge us for it, instead apologizing for the delay. The shawarma was excellent. We will definitely stop by if we are in Kansas City again.

Hands down the best Halal place in Kansas City. I've lived in the Arab world and the Shawarma here is the most authentic in town. Plus it's only 5 bucks! Falafel and lentil soup are amazing too. I've never tried the gyro but that's cuz I can't stop eating the shawarma. I go here a couple times a week and it's sooooo good. Ingredients are fresh and the chef cooks it on a grill in front of you. The chef has years of experience in the restaurant industry and both him and the owner are very nice people and good Muslims. I always enjoy socializing with them when I stop by. Food is all Halal and I've seen the certification on the boxes with my own eyes.
