Spice Island is situated in the heart of Barnard Castle and was established in 1995. The site was completely transformed in May 2006, the designer interior strikes the right balance between contemporary and informal, overall the effect is tranquil and completely relaxing.

We were the only people in the whole restaurant the night we went, looks like they are part way through a refit and not quite finished. The main thing was the food was lovely. They were very short staffed but looking forward to going again and it hopefully looking abit more finished but just needs a few little things doing.
