A halal sign is clearly visible on the premises.. From the owner: 'Jibek Jolu serves ONLY zabiha halal meat to our customers. We never served and will be serving alcohol in our restaurant. If you have any questions about our meat products please feel free to call us.'
Jibek Jolu is a one of a kind restaurant specializing in Central Asian (Kyrgyz) cuisine with homemade dishes such as samsy, manty and lagman. Quick, tasty and affordable.

The restaurant serves a variety of Central Asian cuisine. The food is good despite the fact they are a bit expensive. They do serve alcohol so it triggered suspicion whether the meals they serve are 100% zabiha halal. The place is also a bit small but the waiters/waitresses are friendly.
Food is amazing! You must try this.
Unique selections...appetizers are very nice but main items tasted kinda bland.
First time eating Kyrgyz food and we enjoyed it - we had the chebureki appetizer which is a delicious crispy/flaky fried triangle with ground lamb inside. We also had the shorpo soup which had plenty of lamb and green onions and was served with soft kyrgyz bread to soak up the soup. The lamb chops were the meatiest lamb chops that we have ever had - flavorful and tender. The only drawback was the steak which was a bit overdone. We will definitely be coming back to some of the other dishes. Service was fast and the food is unique in Chicago.
Jibek Jolu is a quaint, charming little restaurant, serving Kyrgyz cuisine. As an appetizer I would recommend the Korean carrot salad, which is a mildly spicy cold salad. As a main dish, either the Lagman, a beef stew with bell peppers and udon noodles, or the Manti, meat dumplings. They offer good size portions of food and the everything tasted homemade. The wait staff was pleasant and helpful. I enjoyed my experience at Jolu.
