A halal sign is clearly visible on the premises of this restaurant. All food at this restaurant is certified halal.
What do you get when you combine one part Rumi-esque spirituality, one part contemporary Islamic geopolitics, and one part college coffeehouseı Located inside the brand new Islamic Society of Boston Cultural Center (ISBCC), the Common Word Cafe is introduced by one review site as 'Eat, Pray, Love' and offers what must be America's answer to Paris' Cafe de la Mosque. A warm, culinary environment brings them in and a comfortable dose of Islamic wisdom keeps them coming back. The Common Word Cafe sells coffees, teas, sandwiches, and baked goods in a plush atmosphere with nasheeds and other religious music in the background. Donations are taken at the counter to help pay for other customers who can't afford to eat. Call it micro-zakat if you will. Better yet, call it dawah with a double shot of espresso.

Love this place for many many many reasons. This Cafeteria adds color to over all ISBCC experience. Lunch time, get a slice of Pizza, Sandwich/wraps or one of their signature Rice Salad Meat Combos. If not in mood of eating anything, just go with Baba Chai with Curry Puff or Samosa! :) May Allah bless the staff here.
this cafe is inside the roxbury masjid, the map shows it incorrectly. anyway it\'s a very clean halal cafe with good ethnic foods like biriani, curry chicken puffs and fried plantains alongside your lattes and chai tea. very convenient for waiting for salaah.
Curry puffs are 5 stars!
This is inside the masjid. Clean, lots of room, mostly cafe food. Great meeting place.
I love this idea and concept. If you are Muslim and like coffee, how can you not go here? A VERY cool, interesting and relaxing cafe inside the masjid. The coffee is pretty good. They also have a choice of sandwiches and pastries. I always try to go here when I come to Boston.
good place fair prices. Great location being convenient inside masjid. The wifi works but isnt the fastest and the tea and coffee is excellent.
This is a very nice cafe, and I like that it is in the masjid. They have wifi, and the coffee is very nice.
Masha'Allah, I love this cafe. It's located right inside the ISBCC masjid, so there's no doubt about whether it's halal or not (there are signs that confirm it is halal). They have plenty of coffees and teas, and an assortment of baked goods made in the cafe (their spinach and cheese croissants are AMAZING). There are also four types of sandwiches to choose from; the "Sabrina", a baguette stuffed with chicken, basil, roasted red peppers, and mayo, is extremely popular (and my personal favorite). What's best about this cafe, though, is its commitment to social services. There is a system there that allows for people to donate money into a pool so anyone who is hungry but doesn't have enough money can eat. Like the suq at the ISBCC, all the profits go for upkeep and masjid programs. It is a very open, welcoming place, and I often see non-Muslims from the neighborhood hanging around eating and enjoying the relaxed atmosphere. Free wi-fi is available. I would highly recommend this cafe to anyone; come show your support for this new business that maintains good morals and serves great food!
