I had lunch here today. The chicken & rice platter was good and the serving is humungous. Fast and friendly service. The dining area is less than appealing but it seemed clean. I will return to try their sandwiches IA.

Good cheap Arabic food. I like the fact that they open 24/7.

I am a late-niter and often find myself hungry at times when there are no halal options. That's why I like Makkah it is a great place for nite owls and those who work odd hours. On a recent trip to Philly I get in at midnight and got a very tasty halal philly from them.

I am only going to comment on the cooked food served there in this review. This place is a GREAT OPTION if you don't want to spend more than $6-7 for breakfast, lunch, or dinner. The food is good and carries with it a "home made" feeling and taste. It is difficult to describe but for some of us, it is priceless. The item both consists of a very good buffet (as other reviewers have noted) as well as some other items that you see listed on their menu that must be prepared by request (such as Shawarma) and the like. The proportion of both the buffet and non-buffet items are VERY GENEROUS and the service is quick. The food tastes good (though not great) but then only in most five star restaurants in posh neighborhoods do you have "great" food. The food really tastes homemade. The proportions and quality are very similar to Saad's Halal place just down the street, however, the prices at Makkah Market are almost exactly HALF that of Saad's! For that reason, I don't think that I'll be going back to Saad's for a long time unless I'm desiring some American cuisine (which Makkah Market does not cook much of). The combination of low prices, good food, and friendly service probably will make this my new favorite eating spot in West Philly.

I give it five stars NOT for the quality of food.. but for being the over all BEST ONE-STOP HALAL CONVENIENCE PLACE in Philly (in short 24hr food, Halal meat, indo-pak and mediteranian grocery, islamic bookstore, with supermarket parking nearby and Jamia Mosque across the steet!). What do I mean by that? Well, I work at the many Penn hospitals and drive around the campus a lot. In the last 1.5 year that I have been in Philly I've been to makkah market at least 3-4 times a week. (1) FOOD: 24hr Buffet style halaal food. Which may not be the best gourmet variety but quite good and Very cheap. I frequently stop for a quick lunch take out.. and in $5-7 only i get some chicken pieces, lamb, rice and vegetables. can't beat the price. Then they also serve breakfast, complete with beef and turkey (halal of course) bacon, and lots of other stuff including their own baklawa. (2)Parking lots of street side parking and a supermarket parking lot a minute's walk away (3) Halal meat: they have pre-cut, packaged Halal meat, a large variety of it and very fresh because they have a large turnover. (4) masjid: the city's Jamia Masjid is right across the street and I often grab a meal here when I go to the masjid. This will also be great for a late night meal for any travelers passing by Philly on I-76 as this place is a few minutes off the highway.

Really good home-made arabic food, place lacks cleanliness though. Family run place, if they focused on the looks of the place too, it would be a hit. I came here after seeing another close-by "halal" place served bacon on their menu! I'm glad I did.

It's a good place to grab quick halal food, but not sure about the cleanliness of this place.

Great place to grab a quick, halal, hot meal any time of the day or night. The prices are very cheap and the food is very good. They do the basics - shwarma, kufta, roast lamb, roast/fried chicken - extremely well. Very friendly brothers and sisters who work there. The portions are huge and cheap. It would be hard to spend more than $10! The food is so good, I had my daughter's Aqeeqah catered from them. Very easy to get catering from them - I did this with less than 24 hours notice. They gave us way more than enough food.
