The owners are Muslim and have confirmed its halal status. All food at this restaurant is certified halal.
Our emphasis on halal meat and quality ingredients, make us one the leading halal Chinese restaurant in Houston.

There's a sign outside Bissonett location saying Under New Management. I called the Sugar Land location and the woman on the phone said that the Sugar Land is the only China King (halal) restaurant they own
Enjoyed there food a lot! Prices are really good ordered there orange chicken, beef and broccoli, fried rice, and sweet and sour soup and i have nothing bad to say about any of it. They were all delicious with so much left overs. We ate in and the service was excellent very friendly. Can't wait to go again!
I would not recommend dining in. The place seems kind of shady. The food is ok - I tried the general tso's chicken everyone has been recommending. The special fried rice were very filling and the chicken corn soup was good! Great place for take out.
Great food, Great Prices...decor is old and has character n can b improved but overall...great place for chinese....
Food was good but OMG do not go to the bathroom
The food here is good, but not great in my opinion. Pretty standard Chinese fare, some dishes are well done and others....we thought the General Tso's chicken wasn't so great, lacking flavor and a spicy taste. The people who run it are nice and the place is relatively clean, although it's not in a great looking strip mall. We may go back if in the vicinity but wouldn't make a special trip for it.
I agree with quality of ingredients going down. Used to be much better
2007 Owners of Golden WOK! Great food, try the General Tso's Chicken! UPDATE (2012): The quality has gone down a little. The general Tso's doesn't taste fresh anymore. It seems the chicken is deep fried in the morning or night before. They have this problem at both locations. Still a good restaurant.
Best Chinese food I've ever had. I love their jalapeno-chicken dish and the lo-mein. But you can't fail with anything, everything here is good and made fresh.
food is great but atmosphere here isn't too good. the sugar land location is much better. someone should add that to this list as a separate item.
We tried the General Tso's chicken (score: 9.5/10), sesame chicken (almost identical to the general tso's chicken), and the chicken in garlic sauce (7/10).
I find the food just a bit too salty for my taste, but other than that, it's delicious and authentic. This restaurant is more expensive than the typical Chinese place in the Chinatown area, but halal meat is more expensive anyway. I'm thankful to have this option when I want halal Chinese food!
My family and I are addicted to China King! Love General Tso! And the new venue has a nicer ambiance
We went there for the first time today and let me tell ya, it was great! I went there with a low expectation, but was surprised by the overall experience there (ofcourse minus the ambiance - atleast it was not like many other places, where the restaurant itself had great looks, but the food sucked a**!) Ordered General Tso's chicken - it was two of us. I was also ordering vegetable fried rice, but the waitress offered to give us a complimentary extra rice. Service was quick and chicken was great. when we went there, there were two other families there (around 9pm saturday night). When we were leaving (at 10pm) restaurant had atleast 11 or so families with only a couple empty tables. Great price, great food. Interior could be worked on. You're missing out on some good food if you have'nt been there...
best halal chinese restaurant in the world when GOLDEN WOK closed down i went crazy but then ifound out they moved here general tso is the best
With regard to my post being removed. I did question two workers about the use of cooking wine, they responded in the affirmative AND I found a shipping slip with cooking wine checked off as one of the items ordered. Simply because the owner of the restuarant says one thing does not mean it overrides the word of the employees. The employees usually do not have much stake in any business, therefore, it is very plausible that the owner could have provided false information to Mr. S. Yusifali. The fact of the matter is that I have ordered from China King several times and my encounter with two of the workers deserves to be posted as a precaution for all those who desire to visit this place. Simply because someone else posts something does not mean my post should be removed. Any regulatory website will never remove a complaint against a particular business and while I know that Zabihah.com isn't a regulatory agency, my encounter should remain on this thread as would anyone elses. Others must inquire further and perhaps this will force more strict measures to be taken at this restaurant to ensure that either cooking wine is not used or that employees are more aware of the ingredients used. This happened once and should remain on the record. Let other people drown out my post with more posts, that is acceptable to me, but please do not remove a genuine encounter I had with the employees. This is after all the purpose of this website, isn't it? Thank you.
I am a frequent visitor to China King so when I read the last post re: cooking wine in their foods I was very concerned and questioned the owner about it. She assured me that they do NOT use wine in their food (nor do they sell alcohol). She was very concerned that someone would post false info about her restaurant. I believe her. I have always enjoyed the food quality here. Decor could use a little work.
good food, quick service, cheap prices.
Excellent food... the best chinese i ever had... love the chicken with garlic sause... very good prices..
I'm Chinese, and this is one of the best halal Chinese restaurants I've visited. The jalepeno beef is excellent if you can handle it!
I'm a chinese food lover. I've in only in Houston for 2 weeks but have visited this place for 3 times already. They have great food. Fantastic! Glad to find a great chinese restaurant. Yes, the chicken wing is delicious, my kids love it. Try the jasmine tea!
decent food. you can trust it's halal. generous lunch special
I've always hated Chinese food! But a friend took me there, it's a little farther away, from 59 I drove on Bissonnet for God knows how long. Anyway, very humble people. The food was HOT and FRESH, and Ammmazingly tasty! I think I love Chinese food now without a doubt. I've got to warn you though, some of the food is a little too HOT and would beat desi food in terms of spiciness, so in case you're not one of those chilli-chewing ppl, you tell them ahead of time..
Great owners I know them they are muslim, infact her grandfather translated the koran in chinese. plus the food is great. specially the chicken wings yummy
Nice clean environment, great authentic menu, you can't go wrong here.
This is the old GOLDEN WOK. Still halal. Still great. Further east.
