Best customer service. Always friendly. As others have mentioned this very clean grocery has limited fresh meat (ground beef, some lunch meats, and once per week they have some unfrozen meat). It is not a full service butcher where you can request large amounts of meat be cut and prepared without arranging in advance, but they are always super polite and work to please the customer. Pity the community doesn't support a larger shop. Would like to have access to higher quality beef on a regular basis. They do occasionally have better cuts but in general the meat is frozen cubes best suited for long cooking times. Would recommend this small grocery to anyone.
Store has recently expanded and there is a lot of room now. Still expect excellent service and the best quality of fresh or frozen meat in Birmingham.
This is a great little market. The people are nice, and they know what is good. They have many things that are hard to find elsewhere. I am not Muslim, but as a spiritual person, I would rather have my meats treated according to Halal or Kosher rules than not. The only criticism I can think of is that the store is small, whereas I would love to see a supermarket run the way they run the Mediterranean Market. The one time recently that they did not have what I wanted was because their supplier sent something of unacceptable quality. That says a lot about them.
This is a good resource for halal meats and ethnic breads and groceries. They can also cut the meat if you ask. They have some fresh meat as well, but mostly frozen. The prices are what you would expect in Alabama. They need more variety but their capability to provide that variety is severely handicapped by the unenthusiastic local Muslim populace. It seems Muslims in Birmingham have not much interest in halal meat.
