I have no idea why someone would rate 1 star to this place? I have moved to US after living for a long time in Middle East and this restaurant takes me back to the original taste. I love their Beef Shawarma, Falafel and also the shawarma wraps are very economical. I would love to see optional "French Fries" as a side which they currently don't do. Please add it folks, you guys are doing an awesome job!

One of the best shawarama's I've ever tasted, both chicken and meat tasted FANTASTIC! I'm from up north and tasted many shawarmas in Chicago, & Detroit. This is the best I've had quality wise and portion size! it doesn't even compare, the ones I've had are usually grease and meat wasn't the best quality. Can't wait to go back to Houston to eat here

Decent food. But we were turned off by a man insulting staff in the back and we could hear it loud and clear.

Today was a very disappointing day. I went there with family, my wife likes their rice-stuffed-chicken , for me it is an average food meditranian restaurant so I didn't care. Owner was not there, and the service was a big mess. There were three men in the serving area and same old waitress who was very kind as always. One of the men named Muhammad was mad at the waitress for not understanding an order and people in restaurant noticed his distress. Later an old Pakistani woman came who had ordered on phone for a few shawarmas to save time and still nobody bothered to start her order and she had to wait and was not happy about it when she asked why she had to wait a guy started raising his voice on her! (A CUSTOMER) he said "If you dont like this place then dont come again here, go!" I was so shocked to her that, everybody in the dining area was looking at each other and discussing that guy's rude behavior. That lady was his mother's age and I felt very bad at all this an I might never turn back to this restaurant again. When owner is around things are different, owner is a nice guy but he needs to take responsibility about what happens when he is not there.

Been to many of the Mediterranean/halal/Middle Eastern eateries in southwest Houston and Shawarma King is by far my favorite. Never had a bad experience there. Sam the owner was always happy to see me, wife and I were on a first-name basis with him as we'd visit at least once a week. Very busy during Ramadan so I have no reason to think that the menu isn't zabihah halal. Very reasonably priced compared to the nearby competition, service always consistently good, and the pistachio baklava is outstanding. Lived in Houston for 25 years and I always make it a point to stop at SK for a shawarma and to say hi to Sam.

The food is second rate compared to the various competition within 5 minutes from there. The chicken was tough, old and not very good at all. Try harder guys!

Not sure if this place is Zabihya halal. I asked the girl and she didn't know what I was talking about. Just be careful, or when in doubt just don't eat there.

owner is friendly and service is good. i've always liked their food (especially the rotisserie chicken) and find them to be pretty consistent on freshness and flavor.

You can get much better shawarmas at other places in Houston. I don't recommend this place because the pita is not fresh and the food is "ok."

I also called and asked and he told me it is all Zabiha. It is a good place to go with good size portion. I recommend it.

I really enjoy eating at this restaurant. The staff are friendly and the chicken shawarma is delicious. Some might think the price is high, but I can never finish all the food they give me.

What was the rationale in taking Shawarma King off of the halal list? After reading the last post, I called the restaurant, and they said that they serve halal zabiha meat. I just want make sure the proper means were used to verify this post before blacklisting the restaurant to the Houston Muslim community. By the way, the food was delicious. Try the falafal appetizer, it is warm and fresh.

Great food, of excellent quality. I was put off at first by the apparently dingy surroundings and smallish appearnace. i was pleasantly surprised to find a clean, tidy and well lit dining area, indoors and outdoors. the staff is friendly and will offer suggestions as well. a very small, fast-food type place, but its big on taste and quality. the pricing is quite reasonable, given the amounts of food youre getting! i highly recommend the kafta kabab plate.

This small restaurant boasts some of the best shawarmas I have ever tasted. The atomsphere is small, clean and the owners are extremely friendly.

We were a group of 5 people, and unfortunately, none of us enjoyed the food. The prices were highly overpriced for the quality we received. Many of us agreed that this would be our last visit. Very disappointing experience overall.
