That being said, the Caribbean Crescent location in DC (FLA ave)--which the phone number is actually for--*does* sell great halal food, and their meat is very reasonably priced and can be cut freshly.

This place is elusively tucked away, I missed it twice when looking for it, and its hours are less than convenient. The person who answers the phone whenever I call is also lacking in phone-side manners. That being said, it rocks. It has great fresh meats, a lot of types and cuts, and fantastic prices. The bulk prices for certain cuts of chicken start at 10 lbs, which is unheard of. All other places I have seen require at least a 20 lb purchase, most of them require a 40 lb minimum purchase. The staff is helpful and service is fast! When I placed my order--about 50 lbs. of different meats and cuts--they had it ready in about 10 minutes. When I requested a place for making wudu and praying, I was gladly accommodated. I definitely would return to this establishment.

This place is pretty cool. They have all kinds of meat and packaged and fresh deli cut meat. The Pastrami and Roast Beef is excellent! Most of time the poultry is in stock, however if you are looking for beef, lamb or goat, it is best to call in ahead of time to ensure they have it as they get it delivered infrequently. The owner is extremely nice and friendly and service is very good. Typical DC prices, but the quality is good. Conveniently located a few blocks from the NY Ave Metro. I recommend.

This business is a hidden gem in DC! Super convenient because it's located in DC and is metro and bus accessible, and I no longer have to go out to the suburbs for fresh halal meat. The prices are extremely reasonable and cheaper than popular establishments in the DC metro area. You will NOT be disappointed! Just make sure (if you're not a wholesale distributor) to go here on Saturdays - that's the only day it's open to the public. I ordered around 16 lbs of meat on the spot, and it was freshly packed for me in under 20-25 minutes. ALSO - you can get all of your South Asian groceries from here!
