Excellent food, service was good. We ordered couple combo and it wad served promptly. Would highly recommend this place.
Visited in Feb 2014. Very nice sit down restaurant. Food is expensive and not tasty.
Food: The food is more Indian/Pakistani than Afghani in my opinion. Their chicken is better than their beef. I've gone many times (not by choice), Ramadhan buffet was a flop, but has been ok other times. Price: I find them to be a higher priced for the portions they serve, I guess not really ideal to share. Ambiance: Large space, great decor, loads of parking. Service: Can be slow at times, don't really check how the customers are doing. Waited a long time for water.
I ordered beef Kabab from this restaurant and it was very salty and tasteless, besides it was very dry and over cooked. The service was below average and i had to wait long time to get my order. After the order was brought, no one came and asked us if we need anything. We had to go and look for someone and call him from behind the counter ti get us water. Very poor service.
I placed five orders to go and two of them were beef Kabab, the other three were chicken and lamb. I was extremely disappointed to see the beef Kabab were very dry and burned. They were like plastic. The lamb was all bones and hardly any meat in it. The chicken and rice were very tasty and were cooked to perfection. I called the restaurant and informed them and the gentleman I talked to was very apologetic and offered free replacements for our next order. I did not call them for any replacements or credit, but rather to let them know of the quality of food we paid for. I ate at this restaurant many times and the quality was always good. I am not sure what went wrong and why the quality was so poor this time. I will give them the benefit of doubt and still order from there. If you place an order to go, make sure to tell them not to burn your order. Allah Hafez
We were in vancouver for 1 week vacation...i took this restaurant address from this website...since we were not familiar with the area we were shocked of the distance from downtown vancouver to surray...it took us about 45-1 hour in rush hour but it was worth it the place and the food was great.
their food is okay...it's a little pricey and the portions aren;t huge. I have ordered from here few times when I am in the mood for some good kabab.
MashaAllah very good and tasty food! Awesome atmosfere, it remind me a Sharja )) Food exactly same taste I ate in UAE's Afgani restaurants. Keep up good job!
the food amazing...... restaurant clean but the service ? been there for 3 times... twice wrong food was served because the girls placed our order wrong. But the owner fixed them . overall satisfied
We had three familes in our group, went to visit Vancouver during the 4th of July Weekend(from US). We found this place from Zabihah.com website. Excellent food, great service, clean and very good decor. we visted the place twice during our short stay.
Went there for Iftar. Was easy to find using GPS directions. The restaurant itself is very clean and the decor is oriental. Loved it! At iftar break time, the azan went off and we were served with dates. We tried their iftar buffet ($15/pp) which had typical afghan items but no grilled items, which was a dissapointment. We ordered Chopan to complement the buffet. Following iftar, we gathered for maghrib prayers in the carpeted majlis area of the restaurant. Overall it was a pleasant experience. Would go there again.
This location is a bit weird but the food is excellent.. the place is very clean the only downside is that its a bit overpriced and quantities are very small...for example, the chaplee kabab dish is about $15 but its really just one big kabab cut into half...overall it was tasty food but a bit high on the $$$ side
Their food is amazing...If had stayed more than a day in Vancouver, i would have definitely gone there again. Excellent chopan kabob. I also ordered the assorted kababs and they were awesome. Higly recommended.
This really is a fantastic restaurant. I was in Vancouver for 3 weeks and ate at this place 4 times. It is difficult to find because its an industrial area.
The location is difficult to find for those unfamiliar with the area... But the food was sooooooooo amazing. I liked everything but the salad. The vegetarian dumpling, Ashuk, was the best I've ever had and so was the beef dumpling, Mantu. The kebobs are fantastic and it's mild enough for all palettes yet not deprived of flavour. I heard from the owner that they are moving the restaurant to a different location and keeping this current location as a bakery or pizzaria or something. The dessert is a must-try! Rice pudding (solid, come out of a mold like jello) w/ crushed pistachio on top.
Good little restaurant - a bit pretentious in its decor, but at least it is clean. Food is good - more typical afghan/pakistani kebab houses - but still no where near as good as the real deal that you get in places liek Toronto or England. A bit on the expensive side for what it really is, but that is due to absolutely no competition for halal dollars - hence an ability to charge basically what you want.
Salaams I've just been chatting to a friend in Seattle and she mentioned she was going to Vancouver for a day, so I suggested to her what I suggest to everyone that I hear is going to Vancouver...and that is to go to Afghan Chopan and try out the amazing food. I'm from South Africa and was in Vancouver on holiday in 2003 and my family brought me to your wonderful restaurant a few days before the start of Ramadaan, for a meal. It was a gastronomical pleasure...and the taste of the food has stayed with me ever since...an eating experience I'll never forget. Just wish that there was a branch here in South Africa! May Allah grant you barakah in your business and may the strong family values and love that are key ingredients in putting together your meals, never abandon you. Salaams and duas maryam :~)
It was very difficult to find the restaurant. Once we got there the food prices were expensive and the amount was sparse. The worse thing was when we paid $30 for our $24 meal, the owner walked away with our money and never brought any change. He must have thought we wanted to leave a $6 tip for poor service, tiny portions of food that was not great quality. I would definately NOT recommend this restaurant.
Food was ok. However I absolutely did not like the decor at all and that kind of influenced our dining experience. Too many portraits of humans and animals. Where we were sitting there was a huge 'mughal' kind of portrait hanging of a man touching a very inappropriate part of a woman's body (the breast). NOT islamic at all. I was very embaressed sitting there eating with my grandparents. Also they had a portrait of Shah Masood. I really think that especially an Afghani restaurant shouldn't bring politics into their decor (because of a long history of civil war). Just keep themselves neutral.
This is my favorite restaurant in Surrey. The service is excellent and the food is even better. The Chef's Platter gives you a great taste of the variety of food served. We will eat here every time we visit!
Excellent Food, great customer service. I go there regularly with my family and I highly recommend this place to those who have not been there yet.
there are not many restaurants that serve that quality of desi food, its really good, except that the food is a bit more spicy .
We drive 3hrs each way to enjoy the food at Chopan , yes it is that good . The bread is out of this world , the garlic ohhhh.... the garlic.
The food is exceptional. The service is very attentive. Highly recommended.
I love their B.B.Q food...it tastes good...the bread is yummy too
