As an Edinburgh resident, Kebab Mahal is one of my favourite eateries. It is the only restaurant which comes close to proper home cooked punjabi cuisine. Freshness - unbeatable. They have such a high turnover of business that it doesn't make sense for them to freeze. Taste - each dish is individual and not generic like many of the pakistani/indian restaurants you find. Service - quick and friendly. Decor - a little dated and could be improved. But to me adds to the cafe style charm of the place. Their grilled stuff is awesome, be sure to try the lamb seekh kebabs or the chicken tikka. Their chicken tikka daal is incredible (ask for it, as its not on the menu!).

We went there on someones recommendation and boy were we pleased. Their homemade chilli sauce is unique and out of this world. The portions are big and the naans are double the size. We had seekh kabab, keema mutter, biryani and naan. Every single item was fantastic. It was a shame we couldn't take the left overs as we had to travel. The only thing is that it is a very small and cramped and packed due to is popularity. However the staff are very accomodaing and helpful. The price is also very reasonable for quality. Overall an excellent place to eat.

A busy little place. Be prepared to wait for your food but its worth it. Well known in Edinburgh by muslims and non muslims alike. Excellent cooking. Not many tables. Takeaway is very good too.

This restaurant is the best I have used in UK. The owners are known Muslims. It serves all traditional Pakistani dishes. Home like food away from home at a very reasonable price. Muhammad Yousuf Riyadh Saudi Arabia

The kebabs were nice and the fish pakora was v nice and big portion. Seating accommodation quite cramped but food was reasonable. Though I would say if you are from UK, don't have too high expectations in Edinburgh!

Most delicious food i have eaten in the UK. The sitting area is rather small, but the staff were so accomodating, espcially if they know u are tourists. The chicken vindaloo is worth a try but just be warned, its HOT!I will recommend this place to all my friends and family from SA.

This place has the finest chilli sauce I have ever had. The staff are friendly and helpful. My favourite is the chicken kebab with extra chilli, but all dishes are good. Highly recommended.

I don't know a whole lot about halal food, but I DO know that this place makes the best chicken kebab in Edinburgh, hands down. And a word of warning: unless you really, really know what you're doing, don't order the vindaloo. I think I lost several pounds eating their lamb vindaloo, I sweated so much.

Probably the best place to eat in Edinburgh. Quite small and crowded in the afternoons, but the food is worth the wait. Try the lamb Tikka Masala and the vindaloo dishes.

100% Halal, excellent food. Best donner I have had in the UK. The curry's are excellent too and very well priced. The sit in area is small, cafe type, but serves the purpose well. A varied menu for everyone and extremely busy most evenings between 5 and 9pm. I would recommend the lamb donner or if you dont like donner try the pillau rice and lamb vindaloo (very hot). The Edinburgh Mosque is just 2 minutes walk!
