So happy to know that the original halal burger of Dallas is still going strong! We remember when this place opened in 1998, and the Grand Burger (spicy please!) is still as juicy and delicious as ever. Grand Cafe is a testament to consistency and flavor. Love the food! Love the owners!
The food was delicious, very flavorful, and the owner (\'AbdulRahmaan) was very warm. A nice Halaal alternative in this area.
We ordered 5 Shish Twook, 1 Beef Shwarma and 1 Shish Kabob from sandwich menu. The Shish Twook basically has 4 cubes of chicken breast, all under an inch long with two strips of bell peppers and a few onion slices. The pita bread was sparsely filled. Plus, the person that we had ordered the food with sat in front of us smoking hookah. There was no one else besides us and this was about after Maghreb time on Friday. I wouldn't go there again. Too less food and too high prices. We spent $67 for 7 people on sandwiches but still came back hungry. My Shish Kabob sandwich had extremely hard beef cubes.

The owner was so not friendly. I asked him if the meat is zabiha and he went on comparing his meat with other meats and how his is the best out there. Then after a while he's like we are the only people with authentic halal philly style cheese steak and if i dont eat halal then i should go to the other place with philly cheese steak that's not halal. I was like, man i just want to know if this place is halal or not. Anyways, i had his philly cheese steak and it barely had any cheese. The meat was so dry and the bread was a little stale. Didn't enjoy the fries either.
Can someone verify the halal certification on this one? We were loyal customers, but due to some rudeness from the establishment, we stopped going. Also, some non-zabihah friends we took said the burgers looked like those from any other restaurant/cafeteria (mass-produced.)
Great service and super friendly staff. Amazing food and always consistent. I'd move to Dallas if I could.
Just moved here from Jersey so expect a critical review. First off, I've been going to this place for years since I used to visit often. The family that owns this is extremely nice. That being said, if you're from Texas, you probably don't know any better and will likely love this place. If you compare this place to The Northeastern halal joints, it is wayyyy over priced for slightly above average food. ($8 for a burger.... really? ..... and don't tell me beef is more expensive in Texas cause thats about all I see out here). Also someone needs to tell brothers out in Texas that real cheesesteaks aren't made with mozzarella! All in all, the food is still decent and I'll give them an extra star based being extremely nice people.
I love love love this place! Where else do the owner prepares and brings the food to your table:) ? It is a family owned place where everybody pitches in and they really care about what they serve. I have been going there for 4 years and the quality they've been maintaining is remarkable. Now please note I am only talking about their food here. The decor is not that great and it lacks the ambiance of a decent eatery and the menu is kind of short. But you know what, the food is so so good I really dont care! We go there at least once a week and IA will go back again again.
I'm not from Dallas, so didn't know which good halal restaurant to go. I just picked grand cafe after reading many good comments. I would say that it's over rated. We were 6 adults and 7 kids and half of us stopped eating in the middle due to it's taste less and low quality food. Sitting area was also so unpleasant. I wouldn't recommend to anyone who's going there with family.

Absolutely love this place! Have been going here since I moved to Dallas from NY back in 2005 and the quality has not went down a bit. It's a family owned business and they treat you well. The place is not a 5 star, but that is what I like. Invest in quality of the food, rather than nonsense decor. I usually order for take out and never had issues with my order. Highly recommend their grandburger, philly chicken/steak- it is somewhat healthier than the real philly steak but still taste good. I've eaten halal philly steak in Philly so no halal restaurant in Dallas comes even close to the real philly. Also, try the chicken tawook- delicious! The brother allowed me on several occasions to use the space around the backside of the restaurant to make my salat. Definitely try it out!
Grilled chicken sandwich was good. Sister in law got the wrong order to the table. I asked to turn on the fan overhead, since it was warm. I was told to move to another section of the place. So all 12 of us moved. Bathroom could be cleaner. It's a casual place. TV is there if the kids want to watch.
Worth visiting. Not on top of my list but good food.
We have been going to this place for five years now. The best philly chicken/steak sandwich I have ever tasted anywhere is from here (get it with hot sauce). The owners are very nice people and the prices are reasonable. I disagree with the comments about sheesha, if you wana see people smoking visit jasmine/sultan and you will know what I mean. This is more like a family run business and the atmosphere is very family-friendly. Everyone should visit this place atleast once!
Portions are pitiful... food was good though (beef kebab). Prices are too high for the dismal amount of food they give you.
Best thing about this place is their customer service. The quality and quantity of food is average based on the price they charge you. A good place to hang out with friends.
The best burgers and sandwiches in the area! The spicy Grand Burger with xtra cheese is highly recommended, also try the philly cheese sandwich and grilled chicken. My kids really liked the burger with seasoned fries. The store is clean, the owner is friendly and provides good customer service.
I have been going to this place for the last 5 year. The worst thing in this restaurant is that old man who keeps arguing with you for no reason. You can not say anything about his food to him. I just ordered two grand burgers today and they had a funny smell which we complained about. He started arguing and did not accept that. If you say I don't want spicy he will force you to have spicy. Worst customer service experience.

nice spacious place to eat. i highly recommend the philly cheese steak sandwich. however the burgers, i wonder. they come frozen (not sure if they're fresh). They also charge a dollar extra for fries. other than that a good restaurant.
We tried chicken philly and grand burger and both exceeded our expectations. Be sure to add hot sauce when ordering. Also try their Turkish Coffee. The only down side is the price, they need to include fries with the burger for almost $6. Another problem is the smoking issue which makes the place not too kid friendly. Having said that, we will go there again if we're in the area. The food is more than excellent.

The food is really delicious. Philly chicken sandwich, and Kefta kabab sandwich and plate are awesome. The chicken tavuk plate is really good too.

Grand Cafe has the best halal burgers in the state. My famil has been going here for the last 8 years and the burgers are always great, the philly cheese is good as well. From my experience it is best to phone in your order ahead of time, that way it is ready when you get there. Since we drive out from Arlington this works best for us. The owner is quite a character but a very nice guy at heart. In Dallas or the entire state its the best halal burger PERIOD. Family run with personal service.
My family and I have eaten here twice. Last time I tried a little of the Grand Burger and some of the Philly Chicken sandwich. They both were very very very good. I love spicy food and the Philly Chicken was very spicy. I loved it. You can ask the owner to make your sandwich not so spicy. He will be happy to do that. happy t
Owner not open to comments. Its like the Soup Nazi on Seinfield. Philli cheese steak....doesn't have melted cheese!? We ordered large fries to go...along with other stuff, and opened the box, and there was 10 fries in an empty box. Food was not spicey enough. The burger was good. Nickle and dimes you for everything....like garic sauce.
I went to this restaurant based on some good reviews but I will probably not go there again. The owner being extra friendly is actually too pushy selling his stuff. I asked a simple question, is it beef or chicken and his answer was like a 5 minute lecture on where he buys his chicken, he even went inside and showed me the box. No! Please, I am not interested, just answer what I have asked. Before visiting the shop I had called and found the owner too pushy. I asked him about the menu; he wouldn't tell; rather says you have to come to the shop... WOW! That's some marketing! I tried the Grand Burger, but was not impressed. Too expensive, I may say. Does not come with fries or anything.
If you are coming to Dallas you have to make a stop here for Great burgers and hosts! When you go there, try the Grand Burger & if you like spicy let them know.
We visited the Grand Burger last weekend. Atmosphere was not too family friendly as people were smoking shishah inside where open coal can also be hazardous for kids. There burger was average, I have definitely had better burgers. Salad was below average. Chicken sandwich was blend. Overall service was OK. I Might not go there again, unless I want to smoke shishah and have a burger. It seems to me a hangout spot for college students.
The Grand Burger. The Grand Burger. The Grand Burger. If you have not experienced the Grand Burger then there is little I can say other than it is the best burger I have ever had. It is cooked to order, inexpensive, and Halal; when I asked if it was halal the employee said yes and showed me the receipt for the meat. This restaurant seems to be a hangout for the younger community on the weekend, but families are welcome also. The Grand Burger is not the only good thing on the menu; the hummus is smooth and the pita bread fresh. Enjoy this restaurant which focuses on quality, community, and really good burgers!
i had someone order from this place a few times and i loved the food. ive never actually been there, but i ate the rice with beef and ive tried it with chicken too, i personally like beef kabobs better, and there is hummus and a tabouli ( a sald) the rice also comes with butter packets, the food was excellent.
This is a great casual restaurant. Food is EXCELLENT! The owner is very friendly. Though the decor of the place is a bit drab...but after tasting the food it really didnt matter to us!Keep up the good work :)

Excellent quality food - fresh, and tastes amazing. The 1/2lbs burger is amazing, the quality of meet used is better than that of the other burger. The Philly Chicken and Beef are outstanding. You can also smoke sheesha here, just ask and they will fire it up for you - their sheesha is done really well!
BEST halaal burgers anywhere! it did take a while for the food, but it was ok because you can sit and talk and drink some pepsi while you're waiting. the man who owns the place is just the sweetest and will make sure you love your trip to his little shop of goodies!

The best food in town. Their Shish tawook, philly steak sandwich and Grand burger are BIG and GREAT! Too bad we had to move to a different state, we miss it a lot. But whenever we come to Dallas its the first place we go for "SURE". People of Dallas are lucky to have a halal food place like this. It's a must go restaurant! Mashallah, keep up the good work.
