This restaurant sells AFGHAN CUISINE. My family loves this wonderful little place. It doesn't look like much, but the food is really fabulous and reasonably priced. The Qabuli Palau and the lamb kabobs are our favorites, and we go through a whole basket of their incredible bread every time. I cannot recommend this place highly enough. Please seek it out. Maybe we'll see you there. :) Edit: Jan 2017. The management has changed several times, but the food is still decent. Qabuli Palau isn't on the menu now, but they'll still make it. The bread isn't that toasty-crispy wonderful anymore, just warm pita bread. It's okay. My kids like the chicken kabobs.

This is an excellent restaurant that is a favorite food stop for me and my family whenever we are in the D.C. metro area (about 4-6 times a year). The quality of the food is excellent and the prices are reasonable (though they've increased a bit in the last two years or so, probably due to the economy). The food is authentically Afghan, so you will not get any of this "Afghan-Pakistani fusion" cuisine that a lot of so-called "Afghan" places are now serving. The restaurant is somewhere between a "fine dining" and "fast casual" (e.g. "Panera Bread") like establishment these days (previously it was most probably in the "fine dining" category). The ambience also reflects that. Lastly, the customer service is good with the average wait time for your meal, depending on what you order, is about 10-20 minutes. As one reviewer put it, this place is truly a "diamond in the rough". You wont' regret eating there insha'allah.

Average tasting Afghani food. Chicken Kabab was good with bread and special yogurt sauce. I will try the Lamb kabab next time.

Perhaps things have changed over the last few years, but I encountered no signs of discrimination for being non-Afghani and I find it hard to believe that such would ever be the case. Kabul Kabab is a small, quiet, casual restaurant, but with adequete seating arrangements for a fair sized party. The quantity of food provided is outstanding, especially for the price paid. That said, I'm used to somewhat bolder food than what I got with the chapli kabob, which was halfway to being a shami kabob by my reckoning. The rice was fine, but I'm more of a naan/bread person, so I wound up using the bread basket in a slightly different manner than intended. This is definitely a restaurant I'll be dining at again. In fact, I think I'll head over right now. ;)

The kebabs are tasty and juicy. The restaurant is a quiet. They could have used more sauces though.

It’s the best Afghan food you can have. For $8.49 you will get a fresh baked bread, a plat of salad, rich, chose of kabob (lamb, beef, chicken) and a side order and you can’t beat that

I don't know where to begin with this diamond in the rough! This restaurant is the best unknown Afghani food in the DC area. Nestled in a row of restaurants, Kabul is unassuming, casual, and comfortable... but don't let that fool you, the food is made with such care and detail that it will knock you out of your seat. Yes there are more prominent Afghan restaurants, but this one, has the finest cuisine. The Quabli Pilau, Mantu, and Nan are amazing... They don't have much in the way of sweets, but what they do have is good enough to make this little gem a prize worth searching for!

This is a great place for great Afghani food! The name speaks for itself. The prices are reasonable, the appetizers such as aushak, bolanee, sambosa, etc., are among the best that I have ever tasted. And each order of Kabobs is served on top of rice that has been so delicately cooked that its juices release themselves in the mouth of those who are being treated to this wonderful culinary experience. The service by the staff makes it deserve a rating for ****. It is by far one of the best restaurants that I have gone to. Dont miss out on the culinary experience.
