I got takeout from here while visiting bay area summer and fall 2016 and it was great. Went back this past week and it has changed. Music is blasting so loud cannot here the overly loud woman behind the counter trying to get me to buy an expensive soup ad on, hahaha. Tiny space to line up in front of counter and the damn college students need to back tfo. Breathing down my neck standing behind me. Almost had to crack in of the youngins teeth in cause he got mouthy. Food has become just bleh. Tried 3 times. No charm. Ordered a chicken philly to go. Barely any chicken in side and the side of french fries was a small hand full the worker finally tossed in while handing me the box which was stale. Sorry to say Gaters you\'ve lossed a customer.

My dinner partner and I were apprehensive at first to go in. I did a dry-run to ensure no alcohol was on tap and then let the others know to come in (the backup dinner location was a nearby Indian vegetarian place). We ordered the gyro and steak gyro. My friend asked that the onions be fried on the grill and to use the thin bread on her steam gyro. The worker - an attentive and nice Mexican gentlemen - dutifully complied. The food was delicious. The best gyro I have had - really! We will be back i'A. The prices are also affordable. The two downsides for us were that the Arabic music was a bit loud and you had to purchase water bottles - no water pitchers. There is also no bathroom so I had to go to the nearby Sprouts market to wash hands.

Actually I believe this restaurant is best HALAL restaurant in Bay Area. I go there a lot and I've introduced this excellent restaurant to my family members and my friends and they love it. Their FOOD and their MANNERS are REALLY GOOD.

Probably the best gyro meat I've had since moving here 3 yrs ago from Chicago. Also the front of this shop has double halal signs posted in English and Arabic. And I asked the Arab cook if the menu was zabiha and he said "everything is halal." 😐

I went here for dinner. The food was pretty good but kind of pricey. I feel it deserves more than just one "$". I had the Cheeseburger and Gyros which were tasty (I originally wanted the Philly Cheese steak but they said they had ran out of bread for it). The place is clean and tidy but the seating is extremely limited.

Gaters is now managed by the ex-Cafe Gyros cook. Food is tasty and the menu is extensive. The cheeseburger combo is very good. Since it's real close to my house, I'll be back!

This place is now under new ownership and let me tell you the food is 10 times better than it was before! They now serve gyros, cheeseburgers, shawarma.. They have a very tasty "spicy" sauce which adds quite a bit of flavor to the food. The portions are now very large and the prices are very decent! I had a grilled steak and chicken combination plate, that came with sides of salad, humus and rice. Needless to say i left the place very happy. This is the new spot. wayy better than cafe gyros or gyros express. Its right by barnes and nobles and jamba juice off mowry!

This place used to be great. we were regulars - 2 - 3times a month - sometimes more. My 2yr old loved trhe chicken. But alas no more. we went today adn they ahve etiehr changed ownership or just employees. The woman doesnt know the difference betweeen a mediterranean grill chicken and garlic chicken or anything else. I asked for no spice because its for my 2 yr ols. the chicken was so psicy I burnt my mouth. i could barely eat it - let alone my 2yr old - and im a pakistani whos used to eating spicy. The food lacks all the flavor from the past. Im sorry to say i wont be going back. if the owners are reading this, then please bring back the old guys! You are going to lose a lot of business with these new employees! They dont have a clue!

I tried the spicey grilled chicken wrap and a spinach pie. The wrap was terrible. It was way too hot and I got a headache afterwards from the experience. I didn't realize that their definition of spicey is pure heat. The spinach pie was flavorless. I will never come back here again.

Gaters is the best Middle East eatery in the area. Their Shwarmas are excellent. Bothe Steak and Chicken Shwarmas are made fresh daily. I recommend this place to everyone who prefers Halal food. Prices are also very reasonable. Try Gaters yourself!

Recently this place was sold to new owners. The new owners are Muslim. I've asked them explicitly if the meat was halal and they said it definitely was. On the other hand, the food does not taste all that great, it's average.

If you are really into shawermas, donner kababs and stuff, this place offers that. But the beef is always a little dry. If they only made it a little juicier and softer, I would coome running. The chicken is fine though. Many of my friends complained that the beef is dry. Stick with the chicken and you'll be fine. I guess if someone has the guts to ask them to make it softer and many many people have complained about the toughness of the beef, then he would fix the problem. Overall, Im going to try this place again, its pretty yummy.

i would triple check if it was halal. I asked them, it took them a long time to answer, if you know its halal, the answer should be quick. When the cook finally said "yes" i kindly asked where do they get thier meat from? Again a long long pause, and asked me to repeat the question. I smiled, and walked out. It would be of great service to the large community if they just told the truth about thier meat, if it is not halal, just say so, and then work on getting it, it's easy, the community would support you!

We were so excited to find this place on Zabihah.com. But unfortunately we found out from the Owner of the Restaurant that the meat is "Kosher" not Zabihah. We had to leave the restaurant without eating.

I'm sorry to hear about this person that got sick, but I too ate meat on the same date and I am perfectly OK. I go there quite often at both lunch and dinner hours but I never had any problems! The food is very fresh and tasty.

I dont know what everybody is thinking? Yeah they told me that the meat is halal and I trust them, but I had their meat last night and it sure made me sick! Great people and all but the food made me sick, and it didn't taste good AT ALL. I was very hungry too and they say when your hungry anything tastes excellent but it didn't work this time. I dont recommend anyone to eat the meat there. The taste is no fresh at all.... I am still sick...........

They have very good sanwiches. I have asked couple of times and they vividly told me it is all halal. The prices are reasonable for what you get. Highly recommend chicken shawarma sandwich. Only negative is they can get spice happy. Please indicate how much spice you want. All sandwiches come spicy.

"We went there last night. It's a smallish place, meant for quick sandwiches and specialty grilled stuff. They told us that all meat items (including chicken) are now Halal. We verified this many times. We tried the City wrap, California wrap, ground chicken wrap and another chicken wrap. All of these were quite good and spicy. They make it right there, overall a very appetizing place. The wraps are smallish, but they have a larger size too, if you want. Overall, a good Halal addition to our area. I will definitely go there again."

"This is near Barnes and Nobles/Starbucks/Kinko's in the Fremont Blvd/Mowry shopping center, the place is small, but clean and looks good. This is Mediterranean food, shawarma, falafel, dolma, hummus, etc...and its pretty good too!"
