168 Asian Mart gets a 5* rating, but with caveats. Asian Mart is building a location in my city of Grand Rapids so I went down to film some video to share with the people in Grand Rapids. The store itself is, and has always been, spectacular. They have any sort of Asian food or ingredient that you could ever hope to want to have. We do go To Madison Heights about three times a year to pick up food items that we cannot get locally. The new renovations to the store really highlight the cleanliness and expansive product offerings. The downside: As a food blogger, I pay heavier, emphasis to the restaurants that they have. Of the five new restaurants that they added: The dessert restaurant had an employee that looked like he was unhappy to be there and could not answer any questions. The sushi place served us a sushi roll that was literally burned. I don’t know how you do that with sushi, but they managed it. NOW, the dim sum restaurant was good and I had polite and cordial conversation with the employees of the other remaining restaurants. The good news: their original restaurant in the back of the store still exists and it is still awesome, So, get your Asian ingredients and food items, but and STICK TO THE ORIGINAL RESTAURANT. Hopefully they bring that part of 168 Asian Mart to Grand Rapids.
