Marmaris II — I had heard heaps about this kebab, so I decided to make the trek out to try the German kebab. Overall, it was a bit overhyped from what I had seen people describe, but it did the trick for a casual lunch. I probably would not trek out again just for it. The concept of the German kebab with the red cabbage and salads was very refreshing, with the bread loaded in every bite. However, flavour-wise and sauce-wise, I felt it missed a profile to really elevate the sandwich from just tasting good. Maybe the concept is to keep it fresh and not too heavy. The meats were shaved off the spit as normal, with no real charcoal flavour, similar to an average kebab store. I can see why it would be a good local spot, as I do not see many Turkish options around the Caulfield area, so it would suit locals well. Not here to detract, but it is a kebab that made me question whether the trip was worth it. Service was, as Melbourne hospitality usually is, nice and friendly. My mate agreed it was an okay lunch, but nothing that wowed us enough to come back for. More of a refreshing lunch than a flavour packed masterpiece.
