Tried Shawarma Palace recently and overall enjoyed it. We ordered 4 shawarmas between 2 people - mixed shawarmas and lamb shawarmas - and the total came to around £30. The meat was tasty, well seasoned and the portions were filling. Definitely satisfying if you want something fresh and meaty. That said, having grown up around Middle Eastern shawarmas and trying shawarmas in different countries over the years, I could tell this leans more towards the franchise-style version rather than a more traditional/authentic shawarma spot. The bread was more naan-style rather than the thinner Lebanese-style shawarma bread. My wife had asked for garlic sauce and chilli sauce, but the garlic sauce still didn’t quite hit the same way it does at proper Lebanese shawarma places. It also didn’t have the usual pickles/pickled cucumber that I personally associate with a classic shawarma experience. So to me, it felt more like a good sandwich/wrap than an authentic Lebanese shawarma. One thing to keep in mind as well — parking around the area can be quite difficult, especially since it’s near the station and cars can’t really pull up directly outside. I had to stay parked on the road while my wife quickly went to collect the food, so collection can be a bit awkward if you’re driving alone. Still enjoyable overall and worth trying, just not one of the best shawarmas I’ve personally had.
