GoogleVery small portion size. And forgot one of my platters yet still charged for it

GoogleWas super excited for halal Dominican food but this was definitely disappointing. $22 for a platter of steak, rice, and fries. I paid $8 for extra steak. Upon receiving, it felt very light so I asked the gentleman if they included the extra steak and they said yes. After getting to my destination, opened the platter and it was a very small serving. I think it’s safe to say they forgot the extra steak because this was very small for even a regular platter of steak, rice, fries. It felt like such a rip off for $30. The steak was also super super tough, cooked very well-done. Ordered a side of maduros that was extremely oily. Ordered a side of wings but wasn’t a fan of the batter it was cooked in. It was more like popcorn chicken wings. No lids for the sauces so they used foil and everything still ended up spilling in the bag. Food wasn’t great. I think they are still getting their bearings.

GoogleAstoria has no shortage of halal food carts, but Steak It Easy brings something completely different to the table. Most spots stick to the usual chicken over rice, burgers, or hot dogs, but this truck is serving high quality halal steak with Dominican-inspired sides like maduros and tostones, and they’re doing it incredibly well. What stood out to me immediately was the quality of the steak. This is not your typical food truck steak. They ask your preferred doneness and cook it fresh to order. The meat was flavorful, tender, and genuinely well cooked. Their house sauces were also amazing, and the staff really takes the time to customize everything exactly how you want it. They’ve only been open for a couple of weeks, but when I went there was a constant line of people coming through. At one point there had to be at least 20 people waiting, and the entire time more groups kept showing up. Even with the crowd, the service stayed friendly, patient, and organized. This honestly feels like something Astoria was missing. The menu is unique, the quality is there, and you can tell people are already catching on fast. They’re absolutely going to blow up.
