Barcelos opened its first store in Pretoria, South Africa in 1993. Using recipes mastered by the Portuguese hundreds of years ago, our flame grilled flavours became so popular that we franchised the business in 1998. Since then we have opened outlets in 16 countries including SA, Lesotho, Botswana, Zambia, Namibia, Mozambique, Ghana, Nigeria, Sudan, Canada, UK, Dubai, Oman, Mauritius, Singapore, and soon in Pakistan, India & Qatar.
Staff has given verbal assurance of halal status. Selected Barcelos locations are certified Halal by ICSA.
They opened at 11am when the trading hours say they have to open at 10am, how inconvenient. No one is ever at the front desk to assist, everyone is doing something at the back.
