Barcelos opened its first store in Pretoria, South Africa in 1993. Using recipes mastered by the Portuguese hundreds of years ago, our flame grilled flavours became so popular that we franchised the business in 1998. Since then we have opened outlets in 16 countries including SA, Lesotho, Botswana, Zambia, Namibia, Mozambique, Ghana, Nigeria, Sudan, Canada, UK, Dubai, Oman, Mauritius, Singapore, and soon in Pakistan, India & Qatar.
Staff has given verbal assurance of halal status. Selected Barcelos locations are certified Halal by ICSA.
We made it here on our way from antelope canyon to Phoenix. We were starving after a long day of activities and were so happy to find food for the both of us. I was grateful to them for having vegan cheese! We got the very veggie with vegan cheese and the hot honey drizzle and the meat pizza. We also got the cauliflower (I think it’s called caulifire). The cauliflower was some of the best I’ve had. Great crunch and flavor (no photos because we ate it that fast). The pizza came out shortly after and was delicious. Loved the art here too!
