Momento is known for its coffee and homemade gelato. Its most popular item, the affogato, features both. Located near Michigan & Trumbull in Corktown, it’s a great spot for both social gatherings or solo visits. The staff is friendly and efficient. The affogato lives up to the hype. Not only does it satisfy a sweet tooth, it’s also a nice pick-me-up. The gelato flight is a great option for sharing. $17 may seem steep, but it’s cheaper than ordering multiple individual cups. Of the five flavors I’ve tried, the pistachio is my favorite. Momento also offers baked goods and sorbet. I’ve had the lemon and raspberry sorbets, and personally prefer the lemon. While the baked goods are outsourced, the croissant I had was delicious. I’ve also tried the lemonade. It was too sour for my liking, though I’m hoping it was just an off batch. There are also some savory options, like breakfast sandwiches and paninis, I plan on trying one day. In the few times my family and I have been to Momento, we’ve always left happy. Gelato isn’t especially common in the Metro Detroit area, so having a solid spot like this in one of the city’s most happening neighborhoods shouldn’t be taken for granted.
