If you’re looking for a solid Pakistani dining experience in Springfield, Des Pardes is a reliable staple that covers all the bases—from a quick lunch to a full-scale banquet. I recently stopped by for their buffet, and here’s how the experience shaped up. The Buffet Experience The first thing that struck me was the freshness. Often, buffet salads can feel like an afterthought, but here, the salad spread was crisp and vibrant. One of the highlights of the buffet service is the bread. Instead of picking up a cold piece of bread from a tray, they bring fresh, hot tandoori naan directly to your table. It makes a world of difference when you're scooping up curries. What We Loved The Variety: The spread was quite generous with a good mix of meat and vegetable dishes. Freshness: You can tell the kitchen keeps a close eye on the rotation; nothing tasted like it had been sitting under a heat lamp for too long. A La Carte & Sweets: If you aren't in the mood for the buffet, their a la carte menu is extensive. Plus, they double as a South Asian sweet meat shop, so the display cases are packed with colorful mithai. Room for Improvement While the meal was satisfying, there were two things I really missed: The Nihari: We unfortunately missed out on the Nihari during this visit, which is usually a cornerstone of a great Pakistani breakfast or lunch. The Dessert: While they have several options, I felt the dessert section could really use a traditional Rice Kheer to round out the meal. The Little Extras What sets Des Pardes apart is the "extras" you can find at the counter. Before heading out, you can grab a Meetha Paan or a Kulfi, which provides that perfect, authentic end to a heavy meal. Whether you’re there for the restaurant, the banquet hall, or just to pick up a box of sweets, it’s a bustling spot that captures the essence of South Asian hospitality. Final Verdict: A great spot for a fresh, varied meal. Just keep an eye on the timing if you have your heart set on the Nihari!
