Masjid Usman
32 Upper George Street, Huddersfield, West Yorkshire
Sunni (Traditional)
In the early 1960s, a large residential population of Muslim immigrants from Pakistan bought the double fronted end terrace house for £5,000 and converted it into a Mosque. The building underwent major renovation in 1995, to accommodate the growing congregation and to convert the derelict rear courtyard in order to facilitate funeral services. At present the Mosque employs two Imams. The mosque does not identify itself to any sect and welcomes worshippers from all backgrounds. The busiest time for the mosque is at Eid prayers with a gathering of approximately 300 – 400 men and children.
