Green Lane Masjid mosque in Small Heath, Birmingham

Green Lane Masjid

20 Green Lane, Small Heath, Birmingham

Sunni (Traditional)

Green Lane Masjid is operated by Jamiat Ahle Hadith, UK, out of a historic building acquired in 1979. Extensive renovation and expansion works have taken place over the past few years to increase space for prayer, residences, and a mortuary facility. The Green Lane Masjid came under intense scrutiny following an undercover documentary in January 2007 by Britian's Channel 4 (Dispatches: Undercover Mosque) that showed one of its imams, the American-born Abu Usamah, making unflattering comments about women and non-Muslims and alleging undue influence by Saudi clerics. Both Abu Usamah and the Green Lane Masjid claim that comments were taken out of context in an attempt to defame them.
