A very hard core Iranian Shia 12er Mosque. Men and women are separated by a partition in the prayer room. There is an auditorium where speeches are made. Weekly event occurs on Saturday night begining with Maghrib Prayers followed by Isha Prayers then the Khutba (Speech) by the Imam. The Saturday night event end with a free meal in the conference room that also serves as a cafeteria room. There are 2 separate rooms for the food serving, one for the women and one for the men. In Muharram people in the Mosque beat themselves for Husayn, the grandson of the Prophet Mohammad, who was murdered on the orders of the Omayyad Caliph Yazid. There is better quality food in Ramazan at iftar time and during the 1st 10 days of Muharram. The internet site is: iiny.org and is not updated regularly. I would recommend this mosque solely on the free food they offer after the Khutba. The sermons are in Persian (Farsi) and are very simple. The Maghrib and Isha prayers are short due to the fact that after the Fatiha reading the 2nd Surah used is a short one like Surah Ikhlas or Surah Lahab. Try the Mosque out, you won't be disappointed.
