Apanaev Mosque

This mosque which was completed in 1771, is also known as 'The Second Cathedral Mosque', 'The Bai Mosque.' It was closed by the Communist government in the 1930s and the building was subsequently used by the government for other uses. As a result much of the structural elements that made it a mosque were damaged. The building was returned to Muslim hands in 1995.
