Zumratul Jannat Mosque
801 Elmwood Avenue, Providence, RI
Masjid Zumratul Jannat was established in 1994 by buying part of an office building. The community began in the early 1990s as a part of Masjid Al-Razzaq, a primarily Nigerian masjid. As they grew and diversified, the need was felt to separate to a place where the vision and aims were not as centralized around particular ethnic needs. This community's vision of diversity in Islam is easily seen in its chosen name, which means 'mosque of the people of paradise'.

I visited the masjid when travelling to Providence, RI. This is a nice clean masjid. There is a women's area plus a place for Wudu (for men only?). Jumuah was not completely full --- the imam did the khutbah in English. The congregation was multi-denominational.
