Idris Mosque

1420 NE Northgate Way, Seattle, WA

Sunni (Traditional)

Sponsored by the late Sheikh Abdul Kadir Idris of Saudi Arabia, this purpose-built mosque was established in the early 1980s and serves the north Seattle area. The mosque is part of the Islamic Council of Washington, established in 2003, which coordinates Puget Sound area mosques and provides the central point of contact for political activity (notably a visit from Presidential candidate Dennis Kucinich in 2004).

Tough parking and inconvenient for neighbors dealing with cars all over.

The current website is http://www.simq.org/. This Masjid introduced me to Islam and I have always found everyone there to be completely friendly. The building is a little small for the community and crowds can overflow outside during Jumu'ah.
