The concept of Mamma's Chicken began in the small town called Lidgetton, in the KZN Midlands. With inspiration drawn from his mum, Riaz Nakooda, the owner of a chicken farm had a vision and a dream to create a great tasting brand of chicken. Using only the freshest poultry, a secret recipe of spices, excellent service delivery and pride, he opened his first store in East Street Pietermaritzburg in 2006. The store was an instant success! Not only did Mamma's Chicken fast become a Midlands favourite, but visitors from far and wide soon caught on to the complex taste of Mamma's Chicken. That was when Riaz decided to share the unique Mamma's taste with the rest of the country and eight other stores soon opened their doors to the public.
