★★★★☆ Love their fried chicken and spicy burger. Whenever we go there to do our grocery/meat shopping I have to get my munchies Posted on December 23, 2014 |

★★★★★ Best aloo samosa ,just like from home ,must try .After trying so many places this is the best place to buy halal meat. Posted on September 28, 2014 |

★★☆☆☆ This review is for the old man with no respect. Asked him for ten pounds of beef in one pound bags. He gave it all to me in one bag and said take it. I told him I said in one pound bags. He said he I never said that. I was looking at his face when I was ordering so that was a lie. I was forced to buy the meat and never been back ever since. Other worksers was very friendly otherwise. ★★★☆☆ It is essential to point out that this business sells haram products as well. If you see the gummy candies, dorito and cheetos chips, these are haram. They have other similar products that are also haram in their aisles. Contact the producers, they will tell you that the enzyme and gelatin base in these products are pork. When the management is approached with this knowledge they state "WE HAVE TO PROVIDE FOR THE LOCAL MARKET." Well listen carefully! The local market eats pork and drinks alcohol! Provide that too. You are not a halal market if you provide unhalal items!
Secondly, your customer base is primarily Muslims!
Third, to the Muslim community: Will you not voice out against all halal markets to please refrain from selling unhalal items! Our children go to these markets and think everything is halal there!
I give this place an average rating due to the fact that this place is the average expected halal ran business which witholds the average service. (Dirty, smelly, with a topping of rude service). Whats with Muslim restaurants and stores? They think they are doing us a favor when we patron these establishments. I will not return to this store. Posted on August 2, 2012 |

★★☆☆☆ The place is filthy, with below average food. The service is rude! Seriously! Whats wrong with Indo/Pak ran halal establishments?
We ordered the buffet, it was empty, and they would not refill. We asked for our money back, the guy at the register had a hard time, and kept arguing.
@ the Muslim Community: Why do you continue to patron and uphold these establishments? Demand better service, better quality, at least some form of hygiene. Posted on August 2, 2012 |

★★★★☆ I used to go here everyday when I lived in Sac about ten years ago. I recently had the opportunity to go back and was pleased to learn the food is just the same--above average! Their double deluxe cheeseburger, fried chicken, and spicy nann kabab sandwich are all tasty! They have a butcher on site, so you know the meat is always fresh. If ever in Sac, you MUST try East West. I recommend. Posted on July 31, 2012 |

★★★★☆ East West Junction is the restaurant located immediately adjacent to East West foods. The breakfast special: halwa, puri, and chana is real good. They also have a lunch buffet. Food is made fresh to order and is spicy. I recommend. Posted on July 31, 2012 |

★★★★☆ Excellent home style cooking by Aftab. Good customer service. I'm a regular. Never had a bad meal. Ask for Aftabs special Chicken or goat Karahi on weekends but you gotta call in advance. Well worth it. Posted on May 17, 2012 |

★★★☆☆ They had a sign which said "deep fried burritos 3 for $2" I was pretty excited to try it, but they said it would take 10 minutes because they are frozen and had to be thawed. So we got samosas which were ok when your really hungry. I might go back to try the restaurant sometime (we just ate at the deli in the store). Posted on March 21, 2012 |

★★★☆☆ I really like there spicy burgers and nan kabobs. The chicken stuff is okay. The samosa's are pretty good as well. Fries aren't do good either. Posted on April 22, 2011 |

★★☆☆☆ I sincerely wish I could give this place more than two stars. I recently took a friend there for lunch because I was craving an East West burger. We ordered our burgers and fries from the deli inside the market and asked if we could sit inside the restaurant to eat our meal. The staff kindly allowed us to do so and that's where our trouble began. The place was FILTHY! I tried my best to enjoy my food but couldn't really because my poor friend stopped eating after one bite because the uncleanliness of the restaurant coupled with all of the flies swarming the place grossed him out too much. Needless to say, afterwards I ended up taking him elsewhere so he could get a bite to eat somewhere clean. It was a totally miserable experience. I'm only giving them two stars because my burger actually tasted good. They need to clean up the place big time. Posted on November 30, 2010 |

★★★☆☆ The food is really good, especially the burgers and sandwiches. Sun Pizza has the best fried chicken though. The service is horrible, I agree with everyone. A lot of times when you go in and pick up your order, they usually miss packing a sandwich in there. I hope it is a mistake but that should not have happened. It happened to us more than 1 occasion in a single year. So, make sure you unload the bag in the store and make sure everything is in there. They might frown at you, but the customer service is bad to begin with. The cashiers are nice, but the food handlers aren't. Posted on August 9, 2010 |

★★★★☆ I been going to this place ever since I can remember. I used to reside in the Bay Area, and I have family down here in Sacramento. Right before we leave to go home, we'll always stop by here to get their "Jojo's"(Potato Wedges), Chicken, and Samosa's. I also love their "Spicy" sauce. A good Halal place to get Burgers from Chicken to Cheese Burgers. Different varietys of foods in the Deli section.
The bad part of it is the area because it has certain amount of parking and the busy-ness of the streets. If there's lots of people, you have to wait for a while, Best suggestion is to call-in before picking it up.
As far for customer service, their pretty nice and friendly. The cashiers and the butchers! Posted on July 24, 2010 |

★★★★☆ I LOVE this place!! The food is GREAT and affordable. We will go there at least every other week. :) However, there is some improvement needed such as on the cleanliness and they do not have a sink or toilet for the customers. Posted on June 5, 2010 |

★★★★☆ This store has been here for years. They are usually consistent when it comes to quality and service (not sure if that's a good thing or bad). The deli food is good and the restaurant is worth checking out though. The service could be better, but may be that is a result of years of Muslim business dealings. Posted on May 9, 2010 |

★★★★★ This place rocks...! I loves the beef Nan kabob sandwich. Desi fast food place... Customer service may not be upto PAR but great food... Posted on April 3, 2010 |

★★★☆☆ Good food. I often go there. I see the chef aftab work really hard in there. Food is very tasty and they only use olive oil. This place definitely needs more help and lots of cleaning........................It doesn't matter how good is the food, if place hasn't been kept clean......................there was no air in there either and man it was hot. ★☆☆☆☆ Busy place. Convenient location with good selection of meat and groceries. Old man who works at cash register is nice but customer service sucks here. Staff is not friendly at all. They make you feel as they are doing you a favor. Ready to go food is hardly ever fresh. This place need a major rennovation or perhaps whole new staff...........................Next door restaurant has good chef but again cleanliness and customer service is far away from this place. ★★★☆☆ I have been happy with the burger since the first time I ate it...you will not be dissapointed...by far the best. Tastes flame cooked! Very busy after Jummah, and at lunch. Try to order ahead if you can get thru. Posted on February 24, 2010 |

NR This a good place to purchase freah Zabihah meat and related products. Prices are decent and the service is good. Some items can be difficult to find as some areas are not organized well. Posted on January 15, 2010 |

★★★★☆ i love buying meat there and eating their burgers, yummmy! they make great fried chicken too!
cashiers are super friendly and for those who say they dont smile...i can only think of two staff memebers that are like that (then again i am a muslimah). Posted on December 6, 2009 |

★★★★☆ I love their food! My favorite is the chicken tikka masala, so delicious with the fresh naan. their parathas are so delicious too! we buy food there a lot but only problem is many times when we want somthing from their menu, they cannot make it because they are out of it :( their buffet is reasonable and worth it. Posted on December 6, 2009 |

★★★★☆ The food isn't bad but it is a bit overpriced. I've been coming here after Khutbah for the buffet for a couple of months and it seems the quality of the food dwindles with each visit. The buffet and a drink usually runs less than 10 dollars, but the food has often sat there long enough to accumulate an oil slick on the surface. The rice is often crunchy. The staff in both the restaurant and the store are overworked and rarely smile. The store's prices are fair for a halal market though. Posted on November 29, 2009 |

★★☆☆☆ Food is not that great, these people don't know what the service mean. Very unhygenic, hole in the wall place, tables are dirty, sticky, no bus boy service to clean tables and chairs. Owner/manager is too busy doing other things, never pay any attention whats going on in restaurant. Please don't try there buffett, old, microwave warm food you don't want to take your family in this restaurant. I had very bad experience Posted on September 9, 2009 |

★★★★★ Best place in town for burgers period! Halal burgers that is.
I don't see what people are complaining about, American food isn't known for its "taste". The quality of food served there (in front) and the price is amazing. You can get a whole meal for under 4 bucks!
It doesn't really take very long to get your food either, but of COURSE it will take long during lunch hours. Which I assume is why people are complaining, most people go at rush hours expecting little to no wait... let's be realistic!
The meat selection at the butcher if very diverse, and it's quality meat. I can also affirm that it is halal because I have been around back before many times.
The restaurant type thing around back needs a lot of work, I avoid it unless I need a place to sit and eat. The people up front are not responsible for cleanliness back there, that is the restaurants fault. Posted on September 9, 2008 |

★★☆☆☆ The only thing that's good about this place is that it's very close to the highway, so it's a convenient place to stop if you're on a roadtrip, want to eat something halal, and don't care whether it tastes good or not. But then again, it can take a while for food to be prepared, so maybe it's really not convenient when you're in a hurry.
Further, the place is grungy and grimy. The tables and salt/pepper shakers are sticky, and the whole place just looks dirty. I still don't understand why they have separate ordering areas for grill food and desi food... what if you'd like to order both?
Then again, why would you want to order both, the food is not very good. The burgers and fried chicken are pretty much tasteless. The french fries were soggy as well.
To top it all off, the staff is rude. They gave me an incorrect order and then acted like I was inconveniencing them when I asked that it be corrected.
I would not go to this place again. Posted on August 19, 2008 |

★★★★★ One of the best halal stores and now opened a mini restaurant behind the deli...it's still rough around the edges, because the chef did not create a consistent menu yet, give it time...i'm sure it'll get better. Posted on November 7, 2007 |

★★★★★ After reading all these great reviews about this place it make me wonder. The food they serve is very good. But everytime i go in there i feel like i am inconvinencing them. They are so rude. The guys preparing the food are nice but there is a lady in there i heard she was the owner that gives you the meanest looks. I now go to there other competitors cause i just dont want to deal with that site anymore. Posted on April 25, 2007 |

★★★★★ I have not seen such a nice Halal store in entire US. They don't look like typical Desi merchant who never know what is good service means. They are realy best in price and services. Posted on November 20, 2004 |

★★★★★ i like this place a lot, i have memories of coming here for years since a kid, even if just to eat their chicken and fries, or burgers. it's also a great place to buy a variety of meats (yes, even camel meat) which they cut to your liking. the service is always efficient, even if done by a moody moroccan :). in response to what Tariq Khan said about the butcher i can only say that i probably respond the same way when Muslims come up to me and ask if i'm Muslim (i always wear a hijab and abaya). my own experience has always been polite and friendly- there was one instance when i came with my grandmother and she was explaining what she wanted with one of the Arab butchers and started going off into Urdu. the guy took it so calmly and responded in a way that for a moment i thought he actually understood her. he also always made special burgers for her with different meat and spices. i don't know if this was the same guy he was complaining about but i just wanted to give an example of the more than satisfactory service we have received. ★★★★☆ Great Selection - has major west coast area distributor - lamb, goat, beaf, chicken meat products in deli, and all indo / pakistian spices / products one would expect... Only thing don't like is their ever rising prices especially after years of great finicial growth...
Insha-Allah they will be able to offer more affordable Halal products to their loyal and appreciative customers.... Posted on August 9, 2004 |

★★★★★ We ate their hamburger/cheeseburger combo here for lunch and it was great! Fries, hamburger, and medium drink for $3.89--this is comparable to McDonald's!
This is the only place in the entire northern CA area that seems like it ALWAYS stocks beef pepperoni. I have been to other halal grocery stores and they tell me they have to special order it and then it never happens. Their meat section is HUGE--beef sausage, pepperoni, quail, chicken, you name it! The entire store is big and carries a lot of items.
However, I have some halal doubts about some of the items they carry, such as a Cambell's cream of chicken soup, chicken in a biscuit crackers, and chicken rice-a-roni. These are regular store items which I have already checked and as far as I am aware, they don't contain HALAL chicken. If you just keep this in mind while you are shopping though, you should be fine. ★★★★★ This place is great. They have a grat variety of groceries, meats and Islamic materials. They ahve a very good and attractive staff also. Esp those in the deli. Posted on May 25, 2003 |

★★★★★ "This is a great place to get all your desi groceries done as well as to get your supply of halal meat. They also have a deli where you can get halal fast food. If you're tired of the usual burgers and fries, be sure to try their innovative spicy naan-kababs unique only to this place." Posted on November 27, 2001 |

★★★☆☆ Its a halal grocery meat store, but theres a deli inside, which sells burgers, nan-kabobs, fried chicken, and samosas! The food is real tasty and dont miss out on the chutney, cuz its real spicy! Posted on April 12, 2001 |

★★☆☆☆ This place is a butchers and asian grocery store that i have used. At the meat counter the butcher couldnt care if the meat was halal or not when I asked him if it was halal he affirmed yes its halal in a sarcastic and offensive way. The guy at check out (probably the owner) was helpful by providing a namaz timetable and list of mosque locations (that was great) and he also affirmed yes the meat is halal. My guideline: If you dont trust the meat is from Halal source dont buy!! CAVEAT EMPTOR meaning in latin ""Buyer beware"". Posted on December 25, 2000 |
|
|
★★★★☆ "This is a halal meat store that also carries a deli, but the deli boasts the best burgers that i have ever had (go for the Double Deluxe Cheeseburger) one drawback, there's no where to sit and eat, so you have to get it to go." Posted on August 15, 1999 |
